Fallout: New Vegas – How to Get to New Vegas at Lv.1

Posted on March 16, 2019

This guide shows you the easiest, fastest, and safest way to get to New Vegas without relying on rock climbing or Stealth Boys.

Introduction

Hello, my name is Schneevee, and today I will be showing you the best way to get to New Vegas at level 1 for all your gambling and implant shenanigans.

Leaving Goodsprings

After getting your cranium blown out and reattached by Doc Mitchell, gather your items and head to Chet’s General Store.

Here, sell all your items, I also recommend picking up a shovel as there is a grave on the way that holds quite a lot of loot. In-fact, I recommend always carrying one as having one handy is great for when you run into said graves.

Once you are finished, head outside and walk towards the Yangtze Memorial.

Yangtze Memorial

On your way to the Yangtze Memorial, you’ll stumble upon coyotes, simply avoid them to prevent any hostility from coming your way.

Once at the Yangtze Memorial, look around towards the right of the location, you should see 3 graves and a hollowed-out rock, collect all the loot avaliable and then head towards Sloan.

Sloan

When walking down the hill, be wary as sometimes a Radscorpion will spawn near the Yangtze Memorial, when you’ve scouted a path head down and follow the road north to reach Sloan.

Once you reach Sloan, a Quarry Worker will warn you of Deathclaws occupying the quarry to the north, ignore his warnings and proceed north. You will see a Lucky 38 billboard, walk underneath it and stay along the rocks.

Looking to your right you will see a little ramp leading up the rocks, go up it and avoid the bark scorpion in the open area by going north towards an abandoned shack.

Black Mountain

After reaching an area close to the abandoned shack, turn directly east, away from the deathclaws at the quarry, and run towards Neil’s Shack.

Once you get within it’s vicinity, Neil himself will run at you with lightning speed and warn you of Tabitha occupying Black Mountain. Ignore him and go into his shack, you should see a path that puts you on high ground compared to the road.

Follow the path, and be sure to sneak, now follow the path all the way north until it gets blocked off. you should now be on a high-rise looking over the road leading into black mountain, you should be able to see the Super Mutants at the gate below.Fallout: New Vegas - How to Get to New Vegas at Lv.1

Performing The Run

Now it’s time to be sneaky, to have this be able to work, you need to wait until night time for the Super Mutants to head back to the top of Black Mountain.

Once you’ve waited, you should now see the Super Mutants walking back up the mountain, note the path they take, this is the path that will lead us to New Vegas.

Once the Super Mutants have gone up the hill path, you can now climb down, but remember to be sneaking the entire time. I believe there are Nightkin at the gate now so DO NOT go towards the gate. Follow the black rock path downwards to where the Super Mutants went, when you get to the base, you should see a dead NCR soldier, loot him if you wish as you wish.

Now its time to head up, it is infested with bear traps so be careful with where you step, DO NOT disarm them if you’re planning to do the Intelligence Implant Run, as they grant XP per disarm and you’ll want to stay level 1 the entire time.Fallout: New Vegas - How to Get to New Vegas at Lv.1
Head up around half way, and be ready to sneak back down fast. As SOON as you hear rumbling, go back down and stay near the right side, a huge boulder will fall down the hill and will kill you if you touch it.

Once the boulder has rolled down, you are now free to go up the entire way, make sure to stay sneaking as if you stand for even a second the Super Mutants will be able to detect you. Once near the top stay near the left, away from Black Mountain, you will see an opening to the left.
Fallout: New Vegas - How to Get to New Vegas at Lv.1
Go through the opening and continue heading north, through an opening in the rocks, you will see your salvation, as New Vegas’s beauty is now within your sights.

Running The Rest

Feel free to stand up and sprint now, as you’re no longer in danger from anything, you’ll be able to jump along the ridges north until you finally hit the flat Mojave Wasteland. Below is my preferred route to run to New Vegas, and it showcases the dangers still near. I like going to the left of the NCR Sharecropper Farms as there are fiends to the right side of the Freeside East Gate that can prove troublesome if unaware of. You can also go around and loot some of the areas such as Durable Dunn’s Sacked Caravan for the high cap items found.Fallout: New Vegas - How to Get to New Vegas at Lv.1

Conclusion

There it is folks, my preferred way to get to New Vegas as early as wanted. It is a lot easier and safer to go this route compared to rock climbing past cazadores and deathclaws, or using the Stealth Boy from the schoolhouse to walk past the quarry deathclaws or blind deathclaw.
