Easy Achievements
Description: Defeat an enemy while it’s being controlled by Sam.
Stun an enemy with Sam’s bubble then switch to John and defeat it.
Description: Defeat an enemy using clutter from off the ground.
Hit a stone with John’s charged attack. Send it flying towards a weak enemy and defeat it. This achievement can be completed in early chapters.
Description: Interact with 50 different NPCs.
Talk to new NPCs as much as you can.
Description: Interact with 100 different NPCs.
Talk to new NPCs as much as you can.
Naturally Gifted
Description: Learn all of Sam’s abilities.
Besides from the two abilities learned from the main story, there are two more hidden abilities: shielding and regeneration. These two abilities can only be learned in Chapter 3.
Move to the location shown in the map. It is in the city outskirt, below the “big” station.
You’ll see a raft there. Hit the lifebuoy with John’s charged attack to sail the raft.
After drifting for some time you’ll get to this location. Stand on the diamond-shaped elevator to go down into the cave where the shielding ability can be learned.
Some players might be struggling with the puzzle above. First shoot Sam’m charged bubble in the direction of the red arrow. While the bubble is flying, quickly move along the yellow direction until the line between the character and the bubble goes pass the diamond-shaped trigger.
Move to the location shown in the map.
Move along the hidden passway shown above. You’ll come across a cracked wall on a cliff. Break the wall with bomb to reveal the entrance to the cave where the regeneration ability can be learned.
This does not count towards the achievement but this will help us a lot. For example, after powering up, the duration of regeneration will become much longer.
In Chapter 7 we’ll find Thomas on the Island of Time. Before going back to the dock, go to the location shown below.
Shoot the green “light bulb” with bubble and shoot all “light bulbs” appearing right after. A hidden passway will be revealed and it leads to the cave where the abilities can be powered up.
Salty Stinking Rich
Description: Obtain 1,000 salt from off a Salt Bug.
There are salt bugs in almost all chapters, but I find the location below in Chapter 2 is the easiest location to gain this achievement.
Move down from the hunter’s hut, go cross the river and leave the map from the left exit and you’ll see the salt bug. Shoot bubbles to the bug without pausing. If it files away just leave the map and come back again.
Upgrade Achievements
Description: Upgrade all weapons to their max levels.
Description: Upgrade your bomb and ammo boxes to their maximum capacities.
The pan will be upgraded automatically in the main story. At the end of Chapter 3 it will be upgraded to Lv2, and at Chapter 7 to Lv3.
Other weapons (the gun, the flamethrower and the cog shooter), the bomb box and the ammo box can be upgraded at Johnny’s Emporium. A Lv2 upgrade will cost you some salt and 3 gear part. A Lv3 upgrade will cost you some salt and 3 advanced gear part. All gear parts and advanced gear parts in game are just enough to upgrade all these weapons and boxes. For the positions of the parts see Treasure Hunter guide.
Description: Upgrade your backpack to its maximum capacity.
It only costs you some salt to upgrade the backpack. If you miss the upgrade in early chapters you can buy them back in late chapters. However the last upgrade is only available right before the final boss and there is no way to farm for salt in the last chapter, so do save up salt for that.
This does not count towards the achievement. After opening the gate of the Eternal Tower, go back to Train Grave and enter William’s train to get the upgrade. Sonic will give you a full (instead of half) box of ammos and bombs after the upgrade.
Nutrient Fortified
Description: Reach max hearts.
You’ll need for reach 20 hearts for this achievement. Apart from the heart gained in the main story, you’ll also need all heart orbs in the chests (see Treasure Hunter guide) as well as all heart orbs gained from the three side quests in New Dam City (see A Person with Heart guide).
A Person with Heart
Description: Obtain a “heart” from the people of New Dam City.
There are three side quests (related to the three urban legend) in New Dam City in Chapter 3. Complete these side quests to gain the achievement. Each side quest will also award you a heart orb. These side quests can only be completed in Chapter 3 so don’t miss them.
There are five statues in the city. If you interact with the statue, a ghost NPC Mimi will come out and tell you a ghose story. The locations of the statues are
Lower right corner of the Princess Avenue.
In the alley (to the left of Earth Born gaming machine).
Outside of the spring (you’ll need to take the subway there).
Upper left corner of the Dragon Market.
On the table in the upper left corner of the Sewer. If there is an NPC at home she’ll require you to “knock the door” before going in. Interact with the wall to knock the door.
After hearing the five stories, go to the graveyard in uptown (to the left of Jazz 21) to gain your reward.
There is a moving trash can in uptown. Interact with the trash can. It will tell you the information about how to gain Sam’s shielding ability.
After learning the shielding ability (see Naturally Gifted guide), go to the subway station of New Dam City and interact with the trash can again. This time it will tell you the information about the regeneration ability.
After learning the regeneration ability (see Naturally Gifted guide), go to the Dragon Market and interact with the trash can for the final time to gain your reward.
In the middle of Chapter 3 (after completing the glazy berry quest), interact with the NPC in updown outside of Jazz 21 to start the side quest.
He will ask you to do some cooking and will also tell you where to find the recipes. Cook the dishes and feed them to the NPC.
In the final step of the side quest he will not tell you where to find the recipes. You can get them in Jazz 21.
After feeding him three dishes you can gain your reward.
Human Refrigerator
Description: Collect every ingredient in the game.
I’ve listed the ingredients you can buy from the shops in each chapter below. The asterisk indicates that this is the last chance you can buy that ingredient from shops, so don’t miss them. Monsters and ingredient chests will also drop random ingredients but for safety it is recommended to but them in time.
Note that the shops will not sell all its ingredients in one go. Each time you go into a shop it might provide you with different ingradients. If the ingredients fail to meet your needs, just move in and out of the shop for a few time, preferrably moving across a few maps and the ingredients will be replaced (hopefully).

Treasure Hunter
Description: Open all the treasure boxes in the game.
Earth Born Achievements
Description: Defeat the Demon King in Earth Born.
Defeat the Demon King in the first playthrough to gain this achievement.
Description: Complete the true ending in Earth Born.
Defeat the True Demon King in the second playthrough to gain this achievement.
I haven’t spot a good Earth Born guide in English yet. If you can read Chinese or if you have a translation software / plugin you might want to see a Chinese guide.
Description: Collect at least 1 of every type of Pixball.
There are 20 type of Pixball in total. Collect them all to gain this achievement.
Description: Collect every single Pixball.
Collect the normal, as well as the alternative version of each type of Pixball to gain this achievement.
All Pixballs except for the last 5 can be collected from the capsule machine right after the main game starts.
The normal version of Fat Dragon will be given to you in the main story.
The 4 remaining Pixballs (Sea Dragon, Bone Dragon, Azure Dragon, Pixel King) and the alternative version of Fat Dragon can only be collected after you defeat the Demon King in the first playthrough. These Pixballs will not be shown in the reward list on the right, instead they will appear with probability when you win the top prize. The normal and alternative version of the four dragons are not hard to collect once you defeat the Demon King, but the Pixel King might cost you a lot of tokens. The author spent about 100 tokens after his first playthrough to collect the normal and alternative version of the Pixel King.
The treasure boxes in the game can provide about 50 tokens, the remaining tokens can be bought infinitely at a price of 25 salt each in Ester.
However there is no good location to farm for salt when the main story proceeds to the Eternal Tower, so it is recommended to farm and save up salt in previous chapters. You can also save your tokens by save-and-load if you’re not lucky.
