For Baldur’s Gate 3 players, this is a comprehensive guide to help you complete all possible quests within act 1 without worrying of having missed any along the way.
This is a W.I.P. and I will update the guide as I progress / gather new infos, bear with me, and thank you.
Currently missing: Mountain Pass and Underdark quests as I’m still doing them.
Main Quest
- Find the Githyanki Crèche
(You get this quest from Lae’zel) - Get Help from Healer Nettie
(Inner Sanctum, Emerald Grove) - Ask for Goblin Priestess for Help
(Shattered Sanctum, Goblin Camp) - Get Help from Auntie Ethel
(Riverside Teahouse, Sunlit Wetlands) - Rescue the Druid Halsin
(Worg Pens, Goblin Camp) - Help Omeluum Investigate the Parasite
(Myconid Colony, Underdark)
Travel to Moonrise Towers
- Travel through the Mountain Pass
(Accessed by a broken bridge north of Blighted Village, then west) - Travel through the Underdark
(Accessed by the Priestess Gut Chamber, Zetharim Hideout, Underground Area below Blighted Village (by using the Well next to waypoint), or by Auntie Ethel (Hag) Hideout)
You can safely explore and complete both quest lines without having to choose one, but reaching Moonrise Towers cuts you off from the previous paths so you might want to be done with both Mountain Pass and Underdark before getting to it.
I suggest you attend Underdark first and then proceed with Mountain Pass.

The Githyanki Warrior (Lae’zel)
The Pale Elf (Astarion)
Talk to the man south of Sunlit Wetlands to get a new entry.
The Wizard of Waterdeep (Gale)
- In Case of Death…
Unthread the purple seam counter-clockwise, play the notes on the letter (D E A D) with the flute, answer K’ha’ssji’trach’ash’ to the mephit question, use the Scroll on Gale.
Nautiloid Crash Region
(Nautiloid)
Recruit Lae’zel.
Rescue the Illithids’ Captive
(Nautiloid)
Recruit Shadowheart.
Escape the Nautiloid
(Nautiloid)
Escape the ship alongside Shadowheart and Lae’zel.
(Note: you’ll find Astarion and Gale right after, somewhere close to the coast)
Explore the Ruins
(North of Overgrown Ruins Waypoint)
Investigate the Crypt and recruit Withers.
Save Arabella
(Druid’s Chamber, Emerald Grove)
Prevent (or not) Kagha from killing Arabella.
(Note: you’ll find Wyll training in the middle of the Grove)
Find Your Belongings
(The Hollow, Emerald Grove)
Speak with Mattis to start the quest.
(Note: if you succeed the Perception Check, you might not get the quest) (I’m not sure)
Return the Locket
(The Hollow, Emerald Grove)
You either witness the theft or speak with Barth to start the quest.
Investigate the Beach
(North East of the Emerald Grove)
Help (or not) the child taken hostage by the harpies.
Steal the Sacred Idol
(Tieflings’ Hideout, Emerald Grove)
Return (or not) the idol to Mol.
Save the Goblin Sazza
(North West of Emerald Grove)
Help (or not) Sazza to escape the Grove and return to the Goblin Camp.
Rescue Volo
(Goblin Camp)
Help (or not) Volo to escape his fate and recruit him in your camp.
Save the Refugees
- Defeat the Goblins
(Note: Unlocks Halsin in your camp / Locks you out of Minthara)
Side with the Druids by killing the three Goblin commanders. - Investigate Kagha
(Note: you must find her chest BEFORE freeing Halsin or taking an Emerald Grove decision)
Find her hidden chest and start an investigation. - Kill Kagha
After checking in with Zevlor, decide to remove Kagha from the picture. - Save the First Druid
(Note: even if you don’t save him, defeating the Goblin allows him to return to the Grove on his own)
Save Halsin the Druid from the Goblin Camp. - Raid the Emerald Grove
(Note: Unlocks Minthara in your camp / Locks you out of Halsin)
Side with the Goblins by destroying the Emerald Grove.
Hunt the Devil
(The Risen Road)
Confront the paladins and defeat them to protect Karlach.
Rescue the Gnome
(Blighted Village)
Approach the goblins and rescue (or not) the Gnome trapped in the windmill.
Save Mayrina
(Riverside Teahouse, Sunlit Wetlands)
Long quest, investigate Auntie Ethel and help (or not) Mayrina to escape from her.
Rescue the Trapped Man
(Inn, Waukeen’s Rest)
Help (or not) the man trapped in the burning house.
Find the Missing Shipment
(West of Risen Road Waypoint)
Locate the missing goods and help (or not) the survivors to overcome the goblin attack.
Free the Artist
(Zentharim Hideout, North West of Waukeen’s Rest)
Speak to the Artist after accessing the hideout and help him (or not) flee from his kidnappers.
Search the Cellar
(Start: Blighted Village)
- Destroy the Ancient Tome
You can destroy it right away. - Unlock the Ancient Tome
(Whispering Deaths, below Blighted Village)
The Dark Amethist to unlock the tome is below the Phase Spider Matriarch nest in the Whispering Deaths, accessible through the Well beside Blighted Village waypoint.
Find the Nightsong
(Start: Emerad Grove)
Talking to Liam in the Emerald Grove starts the quest.
Finish the Masterwork Weapon
(Start: north of Blighted Village waypoint)
Interact with the Highcliff’s Journal inside one of the houses in the Blighted Village to start the quest.
Rescue the Grand Duke
(Inn, Waukeen’s Rest)
Save the Counsellor Florrick from the burning Inn to start the quest.
Worth to Mention (Not in the Journal)
- Scratch
(North east of Blighted Village, above the bridge)
Befriending Scratch the Dog allows you to recruit him and add him to your camp. - Owlbear Cub
(North east of Blighted Village, above the bridge)
Refraining from killing the Owlbear Cub allows you to later befriend him and add him to your camp.
(Note: you can either let the Owlbear Mom live or not)
