Warhammer: Vermintide 2 – Secret Weapon Combos Guide

Posted on December 23, 2019

Did you know you can mix attacks for different results? This guide will show you the secret stuff.

What is a weapon combo?

Not all weapons have a linear attack pattern. You can abort certain attacks and blend into others. This might be called a ‘combo’ as you mix attacks in a non-linear pattern. Not all weapons can do this, but I will share those that do.

How combos work

The 1h sword has a 3-hit pattern, 1-2-3 with lights. It has a 2-hit pattern, 1-2 with heavies. Some weapons have as many as 4 hits in a pattern.

If you’re spamming, you are doing a Light – Light – Light, repeatedly.

If you are charging, you are doing Heavy – Heavy, repeatedly.

So, what happens if you do Heavy – Heavy – Light?

You end up actually doing more armor damage using that combo instead of the other two. This is something the game will not tell you, but you may go and check on an armored dummy. The third Light is armor piercing and does more damage than first or second Heavy.

The heavies are treated numerically as lights in this combo, which is why it is possible to move right into third Light. This also means you will need to keep your place in your combo. This takes practice and an understanding of which number corresponds to which swing.

Shield and Sword

Two parts:

Heavy (Do this once to start up the combo)

Heavy – Light – Repeat

This combo gives you good armor damage.

Shield and Mace/Hammer

Heavy – Light – Repeat

A little bit higher damage against armored enemies.

1h Sword

Heavy – Heavy – Light – Repeat

This deals more damage to armored units.

Kruber Spear

Light – Heavy – Repeat

Repeated wide sweeps. Good for crowd control.

War Pick

This isn’t really a combo, but it still is kind of secret.

Hold down heavy attack until you see Bardin’s arms shift backwards. This is level 2 charge attack, and does way more damage than lvl 1 charge attack.

Kerillian Spear

Light – Heavy – Repeat

Repeated stabs. Good for single target headshotting.

Kerillian 1h Sword

Heavy – Light – Repeat

Very fast stab add-on. Good for headshotting.

Falchion

Heavy – Light – Light – Repeat

This will deal more damage to armored units.

Rapier

This isn’t a combo. But it’s not well known.

Hold down heavy attack until you see Saltzpyre’s sword vibrate (it happens very fast, so it might be hard to see). This is a lvl 2 charged strike. It is almost 100% stronger than lvl 1 charged strike.

Flail

Heavy – Light – Light – Light – Repeat

This gives you good burst damage against armored opponents. However, it’s better to revert to spamming Lights after that initial combo.

Flaming Flail

Heavy – Light – Light – Light – Repeat

Same as Saltzpyre’s flail. However, this one should be repeated against armored opponents. The damage of the 1H is far greater for this flail, so it’s worth repeating.

It also sets them on fire, which Saltzpyre’ flail does not do.

Flaming Mace

This isn’t a combo, but it’s a strong technique.

Light – Block Cancel – Repeat

This does way more damage than it normally should to single targets, even armored. You can do this quickly by rolling your fingers across the mouse in a rhythm. It might take practice.
