Did you know you can mix attacks for different results? This guide will show you the secret stuff.
What is a weapon combo?
How combos work
If you’re spamming, you are doing a Light – Light – Light, repeatedly.
If you are charging, you are doing Heavy – Heavy, repeatedly.
You end up actually doing more armor damage using that combo instead of the other two. This is something the game will not tell you, but you may go and check on an armored dummy. The third Light is armor piercing and does more damage than first or second Heavy.
The heavies are treated numerically as lights in this combo, which is why it is possible to move right into third Light. This also means you will need to keep your place in your combo. This takes practice and an understanding of which number corresponds to which swing.
Shield and Sword
Heavy (Do this once to start up the combo)
Heavy – Light – Repeat
This combo gives you good armor damage.
Shield and Mace/Hammer
A little bit higher damage against armored enemies.
1h Sword
This deals more damage to armored units.
Kruber Spear
Repeated wide sweeps. Good for crowd control.
War Pick
Hold down heavy attack until you see Bardin’s arms shift backwards. This is level 2 charge attack, and does way more damage than lvl 1 charge attack.
Kerillian Spear
Repeated stabs. Good for single target headshotting.
Kerillian 1h Sword
Very fast stab add-on. Good for headshotting.
Falchion
This will deal more damage to armored units.
Rapier
Hold down heavy attack until you see Saltzpyre’s sword vibrate (it happens very fast, so it might be hard to see). This is a lvl 2 charged strike. It is almost 100% stronger than lvl 1 charged strike.
Flail
This gives you good burst damage against armored opponents. However, it’s better to revert to spamming Lights after that initial combo.
Flaming Flail
Same as Saltzpyre’s flail. However, this one should be repeated against armored opponents. The damage of the 1H is far greater for this flail, so it’s worth repeating.
It also sets them on fire, which Saltzpyre’ flail does not do.
Flaming Mace
This does way more damage than it normally should to single targets, even armored. You can do this quickly by rolling your fingers across the mouse in a rhythm. It might take practice.
