Sons Of The Forest Shotgun Guide

Below you will see a list of all the equipment that you require before being able to get the shotgun (i will do a guide on how to obtain these items as well).

Re-breather:

This item is located on the Northern side of the map in a small cave that can be accessed near the beach.

Rope-Gun

The Rope Gun is in a cave west of the central snowy region.

Shovel:

After obtaining the re-breather and rope gun you will now be able to obtain the shovel from a cave just to the east of the rope gun cave.

The Rebreather is on the Northern side of the map in a small cave that can be accessed near the beach. There’s a sealed cliff-side entrance that is boarded-up and you’ll need to break down the boards with a weapon to get access. If you crash on the north-west side of the island, you’ll spawn right next to this cave, meaning you can get the rebreather within the opening hour if you’re brave enough to run past the disfigured horrors that dwell within the cave.

It’s dark in the cave, so you might want to bring along the flashlight for some more light. If not, you can get through with flares and your windproof lighter, but don’t be too surprised when the body-horror creatures shamble out of the darkness. They’re tough to kill, and if you’re playing solo you’ll want to keep moving with the aim of bypassing them, to save yourself supplies.

When you get a choice, head down the lower passage until you see a path leading down towards the water. Continue past this and you’ll see some more nasty mutants – you can fight ‘em, you can sneak past ‘em, you choose – and after this you’ll spot some life jackets on the ground. This means you’re going in the right direction. When you get a chance, take a right turn and you’ll enter a large chamber with a light source and a huge pool of water.

Do not jump into the water. It’s a temptation for any gamer to hop into a huge pool of water whenever you get the chance, but there’s a giant mutant shark in there and it would be happy to maul you given half the chance.

Pick your way around the side of the chamber and you’ll find the Rebreather on some rock right near the water.

Below, you’ll find a list of step-by-step instructions that you can follow to reach the Rope Gun location in this cave:

Enter the cave and continue through the tunnel ahead until you arrive in a large chamber.

Clear the cavern of mutants, and then turn left and head towards the corpses to find a tunnel.

Follow the tunnel until you find a writhing mutant stuck in a wall gap.

Grab the time bombs on the floor nearby, and use them to destroy the mutant.

Head through the gap and follow the long path ahead past the hanging corpses.

On the far side of the cavern, take the steep slope leading up until you reach a dark passage on your left.

Turn left and head through the passage, crouching to duck as the ceiling gets lower.

When you enter the next cavern, hug the right wall and follow it until you spot some light sources in a passage to the right.

Follow the light sources until you find a briefcase holding the Rope Gun on the floor.

Now, with both the Rope Gun and the Rebreather, you’re ready to go for the shovel. The cave where you will find it is east of the Rope Gun one, at the intersection of three streams. It’s easy to spot the place because there are three bodies in front of it.

Once you’re inside, you must interact with the rope on the left to slide down to a lower part of the cavern. In the place you land, on your left side, there is a pool of water where you must dive in using the rebreather. This section is pretty simple, you just need to keep swimming down through the small spaces you find.

When you get out of the water, you will find yourself in a steep section with some mutants around. Follow this path and eventually, there is a slope where you can slide down and fall into a small pool of water. Close to you, there are three red cases.

The next section is a large room where there are a couple of mutants. Stick to the right side to find the path that will take you to another large area with two light sources and some bodies on the ground. By sticking to the left side of the room, you can find a new path that leads to another pool of water where you must dive in again.

After exiting the water, you just need to go straight ahead to find, in a body at the end of this section, the shovel.

Now you have obtained the shovel it is as simple as:

Open your GPS and locate the markers on the map with an exclamation point inside of them.

Head to the marker that is closer to the coast, but not in the ocean. Check the image above for further assistance. Also, your GPS will beep faster as you get closer to the marker.

Use the shovel to dig up the grave.

Break open the coffin, and collect the shotgun inside.

Slingshot

Revolver
Northeast GPS point of interest in maintenance shaft C.

Pistol
Off the coast of the west beach in an orange raft marked by a purple GPS locator.

Shotgun
Northwest purple GPS locator, by digging up a grave.

Crossbow
Same cave as the VIP keycard in a hydroponic garden room.

Guitar
In the same cave as the guest keycard inside the night club.

Compound bow
Southwest corner of the island at the green GPS point of interest in maintenance shaft B.

Tactical axe
Contained in your starting gear with the GPS.

Firefighter axe
Inside the cave with the maintenance keycard on the wall in a glass case.

Modern axe
In a cannibal camp outdoors across the stream from the maintenance shaft where the maintenance keycard is found.

Utility knife
Contained in your starting gear with the GPS.

Machete
Stuck in an inflatable raft on the beach east of the rebreather cave.

Stun baton
Stuck inside a pile of skulls outside near the rope gun cave.

Cross
In the rope gun cave on the right side of the first main cavern.

Katana
Level 2 of the green GPS point of interest in the southeast corner of the map.

Putter
Several can be found on the golf course in the northeast corner of the map.

Chainsaw
Inside the same cave as the guest keycard.
