Half-Life 2: How to Cheese the Rooftop Lift Battle in Ravenholm

Posted on February 12, 2020February 12, 2020

A trick to not have to fight any zombies while waiting for the lift to the graveyard in Ravenholm. Useful when attempting the achievement Zombie Chopper. In fact, it was my run through it when I discovered this cheese.

Where the cheese is pulled

This trick is performed in d1_town_02, in the area you enter when leaving d1_town_03, or for those who don’t have maps memorized, Nerds… the part where Father Grigori calls a lift for you after you move a platform in an alley.

Step 1

Cross the wooden plank bridge and drop down into the area below, then claim the stairs into the building, then climb the ladder in the building.

Step 2

Wait for Father Grigori to tell you he’s sending the cart, then fall onto the catwalk where the door is. If you want to minimize fall damage, aim for the light above the door, you’ll slide of it and not take any damage.

Step 3

Go back into the door, then wait. When you hear Father Grigori say “Now brother, step into the cart!” you can safely climb up the ladder to see the lift and no zombies slaughtered.

This concludes my guide. I hope you will find use in it.
