For ARK: Survival Ascended players who want to have a better performance, this guide will help out Nvidia and AMD users.
Windows Updates & Game Mode
Ensuring you are running the latest versions of Windows, preferably Windows 11 22H2.
Taking advantage of Windows Game Mode – Windows prioritises your gaming experience by turning processes off in the background.
To turn Game Mode on or off:
Press the Start button, type Settings in the search box, and then select Settings.
Choose Gaming > Game Mode.
Turn Game Mode On or Off.
Driver Updates for both Nvidia and AMD users
Nvidia users can source drivers via the link below – https://www.nvidia.com/download/index.aspx
AMD users can source drivers via the link below – https://www.amd.com/en/support
I always recommend installing drivers from scratch. If you already have drivers installed, and require updates, then it’s most likely time that you reinstall GPU drivers with DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller)
First make sure you have DDU downloaded on your PC. If you haven’t, go to the official download page – https://www.guru3d.com/download/display-driver-uninstaller-download
Once downloaded, unzip the folder. You will need to then open the folder and double click DDU.exe to extract the files.
Now, you will need to remove your active internet connection. Why? Because after the process below, Windows will restart and automatically install drivers via Windows Update. We want to avoid this, as we are installing the *Latest version of the Display driver, and the manufacturers software.
Next you need to enter Safe Mode. Head to Windows Settings > Select Update & Security > Recovery > Advanced startup. Click Restart now
Click Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings > Restart
A list of different startup options will appear, press the number 4 key to enter Safe Mode without internet access.
Once your PC restarts, open the extracted DDU.exe
On the right side, select — Select Device — then GPU, then your GPU manufacturer (AMD | Nvidia) – Then click Clean and restart.
This process takes around 2-5 minutes. Once complete, your device will restart back to normal.
In-game settings – DLSS | RX Profiles
As of now, best settings for in-game performance are still being determined.
For Nvidia Users, I recommend that you enable DLSS which is available for RTX 20* 30* and 40* Series cards. For a list of all supported DLSS GPU’s, see the link attached.
As for AMD, we are still waiting for FSR to be deployed, however this doesn’t mean you can’t take advantage of HYPR-RX profiles!
Within AMD Adrenaline software, Graphics Profiles are available on a per-game and global basis. Simply enable the profile for your game, then launch the title.
