For THE KING OF FIGHTERS XV players who want to get 50 Titles, you need to Complete All missions with 29 characters. So I did this guide to choose the order and what to expect from each character in terms of difficulty. Also I added some notes, when needed, to clarify some Missions.
Introduction
More than a guide, it is a reference to choose the missions necessary to obtain the achievement of 50 titles. You need to complete all missions with at least 29 characters. Its a long journey, if you are not used to King of Fighters mechanics or Fighting Games in general (like me being a Casual).
Unlike other fighting games, the flow of the combos is fast and uninterrupted and in some cases very strict with the inputs, so mashing buttons does not work in most cases.
You need to master the Cancel mechanic for Cancel Super Specials and to activate Quicl MAX mode.
My recommendation is start with characters that only have one type of Cancel, then the characters with both types of Cancel. Then Cancel with inputs into the same direction after “Dragon Punch” (🡢🡣🡮). Last if needed, Cancel with inputs into the opposite direction after “Dragon Punch” (🡢🡣🡮).
I didn’t consider the Advance Cancel and Climax Cancel mechanics on the difficulty, as the game is very lenient on those inputs. Input Buffer is huge!
TL;DR: Skip the Hard ones, start with the Normal and Normal*
The difficulty order, from easiest to hardest:
I’ll use this Controls Layout when talking about inputs:
Team Hero
You can press 🡧+A instead 🡣+A, it counts as you holding 🡠 for the next input.
Cancel with inputs into the opposite direction.
Cancel with inputs into the same direction.
You can start the last part with 🡮 instead 🡣, then rapidly press 🡩+B.
Team Rival
In order to chain 2 “Dragon Punch” (🡢🡣🡮), you need to perform both “Dragon Punch” (🡢🡣🡮) in succession in a very short frame window. The input for this is very strict.
Cancel with inputs into the opposite direction after “Dragon Punch” (🡢🡣🡮) is one of the hardest, “frame window” is very short and inputs are strict.
Team Sacred Treasures
Cancel with inputs into the same direction.
Cancel with inputs into the same direction after “Dragon Punch” (🡢🡣🡮) requires practice, but is not that bad. Just keep in mind that Trial 5 requires you delay MAX Super Special and Climax Super Special in order to hit.
Cancel with inputs into the same direction.
Chizuru’s combos has double inputs. I mean you need to perform a command and press another button inmediatly. That makes Chizuru’s combos harder than normal.
Team Ash
You can press 🡧+C instead 🡣+C, it counts as you holding 🡠 for the next input. For the second hold input you need to finish with 🡮, it counts as 🡢 and 🡣 for the next input.
Cancel with inputs into the same direction.
Cancel with inputs into the same direction after “Dragon Punch” (🡢🡣🡮) requires practice, but is not that bad.
Cancel with inputs into opposite direction.
Cancel with inputs into the same direction.
Mission 4 is tricky. The first A needs to hit twice, instead cancel it with 🡢+A in the first hit. Otherwise the 🡣+B wont hit.
Team Krohnen
Cancel with inputs into the same direction.
Cancel with inputs into the same direction after “Dragon Punch” (🡢🡣🡮) requires practice, but is not that bad.
In Mission 5 the charged MAX Super Special needs to be charge for a fair amount of time, otherwise wont count.
Team Orochi
Since 🡣🡧🡠+A changes you to 2P side, it will turn into Cancel with inputs into the same direction.
Cancel with inputs into the same direction after “Dragon Punch” (🡢🡣🡮). Keep in mind you change to 2P side.
Cancel with inputs into opposite direction. Keep in mind you change to 2P side.
Team K’s
K’s combos has double inputs. I mean you need to perform a command and press another button inmediatly. That makes K’s combos harder than normal.
Cancel with inputs into the same direction.
Cancel with inputs into the same direction after “Dragon Punch” (🡢🡣🡮) requires practice, but is not that bad.
Team G.A.W.
Cancel with inputs from confirmation (🡣🡣+A). This one is requires practice, is hard for me.
Cancel with inputs into the opposite direction after “Dragon Punch” (🡢🡣🡮) is one of the hardest, “frame window” is very short and inputs are strict.
Cancel with inputs into the same direction.
In Mission 4. The last part of combo will turn into Cancel with inputs into same direction, since 🡣🡮🡢+AC will make you change to 2P side.
Team Ikari
Instead 🡣, you can start with 🡧 after 🡣🡧🡠+C.
Cancel with inputs into the opposite direction.
You can finish with 🡮, instead 🡢, it will count as 🡢 and 🡣 for the next input.
Mission 4 is tricky, but you have already learned what you need to perform correctly.
Confirmation command, needs to be done fast.
Cancel with inputs into opposite direction. Keep in mind you change to 2P side.
In Mission 4 the command 🡠🡧🡣🡮🡢 🡠🡧🡣🡮🡢 +B/D will make you change to 2P side. The Cancel will turn into Cancel with inputs into the same direction.
In Mission 5 the command 🡣🡧🡠 will make you change to 2P side. The Cancel will turn into Cancel with inputs into opposite direction.
Team Fatal Fury
Dont use 🡢+A, because the next command will turn into “Dragon Punch” (🡢🡣🡮). Use 🡠+A instead.
Andy has both Cancel with inputs into the same direction and Cancel with inputs into the opposite direction.
Cancel with inputs into the same direction after “Dragon Punch” (🡢🡣🡮) requires practice, but is not that bad.
Joe has both Cancel with inputs into the same direction and Cancel with inputs into the opposite direction.
Team Art of Fighting
Cancel with inputs into the same direction.
Ryu’s Mission 5 Cancel is one of the hardest Cancel to perform. Due to the strictness in the inputs.
Cancel with inputs into the same direction.
Variant of Cancel with inputs into the same direction.
Robert’s Mission 4 Cancel is one of the hardest Cancel to perform. Due to the strictness in the inputs.
Cancel with inputs into the same direction after “Dragon Punch” (🡢🡣🡮) requires practice, but is not that bad as the Mission 4.
Team Super Heroine
Athena has both Cancel with inputs into the same direction and Cancel with inputs into the opposite direction.
Cancel with inputs into the opposite direction after “Dragon Punch” (🡢🡣🡮) is one of the hardest in others, but Athena has plenty of time to perform it since the Super Special is done in the Air.
Cancel with inputs into the same direction.
Yuri’s Mission 4 is tricky. All commands must be done one after another without delay. The last part must be done very fast.
Team Secret Agent
Blue Mary has both Cancel with inputs into the same direction and Cancel with inputs into the opposite direction. Every combo requires you keep chaining commands without pauses.
In Mission 4. You need to do 🡧+C, instead 🡣+C. So it will count as 🡠 for the next input.
Cancel with inputs into the same direction after “Dragon Punch” (🡢🡣🡮) requires practice, but is not that bad. You just need to be fast.
Cancel with inputs into opposite direction.
