Hello cHood: Outlaws & Legends Basic players, this is a understanding basics guide to help you start racking in gold for your hideouts (Or self. In this guide we’ll go over overall basics, how do the two types of playstyles work, In-depth details about the classes themselves and helpful tips and tricks along the way, with these in mind class is now in session!
The Literal Basics
The HUD
Up there is what you’re going to be seeing 24/7. Get used to it. The green bar is your health, the middle circle that’s filling up is your ultimate, and the blue is the pitiful pool of stamina. You will never have enough of this so use it sparingly in combat. Health is regain by your local priest. So be kind to your mystic. He is your only source of healing beside death. Your ultimate is filled very slowly overtime, or by assassinating stateguards, moreso if it’s a player. You also gain ultimate faster if you’re holding the chest but unless you’re melee don’t bother. Stamina is regain by doing nothing but jogging/walking/crouching. You can do about three dodges as a range, or 2 Heavy attacks or about 6-7 light attacks as a melee before ruining dry, you regain stamina slower if you fully deplete the bar so try to not do that if possible.
What’s the difference between ranged and melee?
Well stating the obvious here, ranged has the ability to shoot from a distance while melee is restrained to close distance, ranged characters lack a heavy attack and the ability to block/parry, but can shoot down ropes for your team (go you!) and the power to coward scurry aka dodge. Dodging is very powerful because during it you get I-Frames so long as you can time it right you won’t get hit. Though you can’t dodge forever so make them count.
Melee characters are honorbound by code and lack of light equipment to not dodge but instead put their guard up to block anything that isn’t gear. No I mean it, you can block arrows, (so no more running up to Robin just to get shot in the head and instantly die!) and even parry too if you want to be fancy about it. Blocking, like dodging drains stamina though at a much slower rate if nothing’s hitting you. Timing it right you’ll parry instead of blocking, which doesn’t drain stamina and staggers the foe if they hit you with a melee attack.
The Outlaws
The Ranger
Good old fairy-tale classic Robin-Hood, He is a ranged hero and has the longest range out of the outlaws. You can play him a number of ways, stick far away and snipe heroes, or stay with your team and assist with coverfire, even throw some perks on him to make him on par as a melee. He can also tag enemies longer. His gear is the flashbang, His ultimate his the FarsightExplosive Arrow.
His flashbang can stun AI and blind and remove stamina from enemy players.
Explosive arrow sticks to who-ever you shoot, be-careful that whoever you shot doesn’t run up and take you with them! Use it whenever enemy heroes are grouped up, or the Sheriff.
The Hunter
Wristcrossbow lady, lacking in range compared to Hunter but has much more firepower compared to him. Can load up to three bolts before firing. She also has faster assassination than other heroes, so when possible do it to save time. She can also assassinate AI from any directions in her smoke or in bushes. Her gear is the smokebomb, and her ultimate is Shroud
Her smokebomb confuses AI inside of it, any Hunters inside of smoke can assassinate AI from any direction inside. Players cannot lock on if they’re melee and range classes have a harder time seeing you, best used on the winch.
Shroud makes you invisible to AI and translucent to players. Good if players don’t suspect you, useless if they see you doing it.
The Brawler
Blacksmith that’s gonna rock your world, he’s the best for straight up confrontation. His heavy attack is a aoe slam that does big damage if hit directly. He’s also more beefy compared to the others so try to take the aggro and damage off of you’re squishier friends. He can also open the closed gates for his friends, be-careful not to drop it on them however. His gear is the frag grenade and his ultimate is Wrath
The Frag is the only gear that does straight up damage, and massive one in fact, actually, as of now nothing can survive explosives, so be careful. Good to use when enemy heroes are grouped up, on the winch, or on the big bad Sheriff.
Wrath is once activated turn Brawler into a beast. You take an extreme amount of damage reduction and increase damage dealt, you also get unlimited stamina so go nuts! Best used when at full health and you feel ballsy enough to throw yourself at the world. Sheriff will still curbstomp you so be warned
The Mystic
Gasbomb stuns AI and drains stamina of ALL outlaws, unless you have a perk. You could also opt to change your gasbombs into healing gas bombs, in which case you go from praised to full on godhood.
Instinct marks enemies around your area, also fully heals all teammates around you, always use it when you feel like the scum on your team deserve a bone.
Hey, how do you deal with them?
Best way is teamwork, it’s a team game, so work with them. But I’ll share some pointers.
Ranger
Best bet is to get a Ranger yourself to take him out, if that can’t work then get up and sneak kill him since his focus will be infront of him, otherwise just close in and smack the fly. If they don’t crumble under stress and can dodge correctly block his arrows and wait for him to use up all his dodges and lay the smackdown on him.
Hunter
Either outrange her or get close enough so she doesn’t feel cozy enough to shoot, be careful to keep an eye out on her because she WILL try going for the assassination. As long as she doesn’t have the element of surprise you’ll be fine.
Brawler
A head on fight with a brawler will most likely end in death unless he’s low or you’re a brawler yourself, Outrange him and make sure he doesn’t get close, otherwise dodge and shoot or parry his swings and counterattack. When in Wrath your best bet is to wait it out, don’t bother attacking him and play defense. If you have a friend around have them assassinate him, Wrath doesn’t make him immune from that, his heavy attack also has major endlag so if it’s a 2v1 it’s a free assassination.
Mystic
His blocking is much more weak compared to Brawler so when he blocks do your best to break it, His heavy attack is extremely dangerous so move left or right when you see it coming, you can parry it but it’s VERY, hard to pull of. Sometimes they might ult mid fight to heal. Free assassination for you or a heavy attack if you aren’t close enough.
The State
Guard
Watchman
Knight
This is when things get a bit tricky, Knights are MUCH more beefy then their guard counterpart, they also swing faster and harder. Your best bet is to quietly take them out or if you’re being attacked by one, have a teammate assassinate them from behind, if confronted by more than one alone, run and hide.
The Sheriff is rapidly approaching, run.
The Key, The Vault, and the Chest
STEP ONE, GRAB THE KEY
Sounds easy, right? Yes and no. First you got to locate the Sheriff, once found go behind him and snatch the key when he doesn’t know any better. Ok yeah it SOUNDS easy. But there’s guards everywhere and it’s always a race, you have four other players with the same goal. There’s also capture points you should focus on claiming to respawn quicker in the fight. Now you COULD let them just get the key, but the thing holding the key tells you the location of the vault, so if you have no way to talk to your team, please don’t grab it.
STEP TWO, FIND AND OPEN THE SAFE
You got the key and you’ve told your team where the safe’s at. Now you gotta go get there. Try to be sneaky about it, as long as you’re not in any of the enemy players sights they won’t know where the key is. This is normally the easiest part, so try not to f**k it up.
STEP THREE, EXTRACT THE CHEST.
The final and hardest step once the chest has been picked up (Make sure it’s either Brawler or Mystic, they move faster with it) take it to one of the few winch points. Which one is up to you and the team, normally the closet one is the better option unless you and your team is sure you can take it to the winch closer to your spawn. While carrying the chest you make noise and alert AI near you so you or your teammates have to take them out. Now once you set it down you’re home free!….Right?
What these little “dots” are is your progress to extracting the chest out. Each time gold spills for your team, but no matter what the final one is which team gets the chest, so the enemy could get all dots but the last, and you’d still win and get the majority of the gold. So how do we get those dots? Simple, get your A** ON THAT WINCH. Two people can be on it at once, like usual, make sure it’s your melee teammates, Ranger and Hunter can cover better and Brawler and Mystic winch faster anyways. You can even hold Left mouse/RT to use stamina to winch faster, if you don’t claim a dot and get coins spilled, the progress gets reset back to the last dot, so only get off when needed. You and the enemy team will be neck and neck so do your best and out win them! Be careful, the Sheriff won’t let you leave so easily either.
Once in the (hopefully) victory screen, you can toss a coin to the main step takers, then decided how much gold to the people, or da bag. Giving the hard earn money to yourself allows you to by cosmetics or more importantly, perks. gold is share between all heroes, or give the money you stole to the poor, which fills a bar to upgrade your hideout which in turn…Unlocks cosmetics. Hopefully it does something else in the future but for now it’s best to pocket most of the money.
Overall Tips and Tricks And Final Thoughts
- Head-shots for the most part are instant kills, so keep your dome safe
- Best way to take out someone attacking a ally is to assassinate them, AI or Player, if it’s the Sheriff then… Bye Bye.
- During the Winch phase cap the point closet to the winch spot so enemies can’t spawn in right away just to stop them.
- Stick with your team, working together is the best way to win.
- Try not to waste arrows on AI that can be easily assassinated, save it for the watchmen or other threats.
- If you have AI on your tail during the winch phase, it’s better to lead them to the winch than to kill them, more distraction the better.
And that’s all! I’ll do my best to update the guide once more content is updated. I hope you enjoyed the read, learned a thing or two and give out some hard earn gold, or you know, keep it for yourself.
