Shroom and Gloom: All 14 Achievements Guide

Posted on October 4, 2026

I put together this guide because Shroom and Gloom doesn’t spell out most of its achievement conditions, and a few of them only make sense once you’ve already failed at them once. Across all 14 achievements, most are simple counters or exploration goals you’ll trip naturally — but there’s a tricky handful that will happily waste your runs if you don’t know what triggers them. This covers every achievement in the Early Access build, plus the order I’d tackle them in.

The hidden ones are the reason I bothered writing this down. Several of them are tied to quests that quietly conflict with each other, and the kill-count achievements were only fixed in patch 0.6.24 — so I’d make sure your game is actually updated before you start chasing anything. Here’s the whole set, laid out so you can plan a couple of clean runs instead of twenty messy ones.

Quick Reference: All 14 Achievements

If you just want the full list in one place, this is it. Everything below is expanded in the following sections, but this table is the version I keep open while playing.

Achievement Condition
Boy Scout Set up your first campfire
Heartless Ignore the toad begging for food
Collector Pick up 100 different cards
Heavy Handed Hold 20 cards in 1 hand
Spelunker Map every tunnel of The Forgotten Path
Gloom Slayer Kill Gloomworm
Gunk Slayer Kill Gunkworm
DIE Die 10 times
Soft Headed Die by bashing Whatever Man
Embrace Apathy MURDERER
Embrace Apathy Murder 1000 creatures
Urbexer Map every tunnel of The Facility
Would you love me if I were a worm? Kill 10 worms
Space is wrong here Find a secret tunnel

Easy Early Unlocks

These are the three I’d knock out on your first couple of runs without thinking about them too hard. Two of them are basically free, and one just asks you to pay attention to your card choices.

Boy Scout

Set up your first campfire.

Campfires are where a run pauses between fights. The first time you’re given the option to set one up, do it and the achievement pops. There’s no reason to skip it, which is probably why it’s among the first things most players unlock.

Heartless (Hidden)

Ignore the toad begging for food. You monster.

Find the toad, then walk away without feeding it. What makes this one worth flagging: the quest King’s Quest asks you to satisfy the Toad King‘s hunger, so feeding the toad works against this achievement. If you want both, do Heartless first and feed it on a later run — otherwise the two goals pull in opposite directions and you’ll be redoing a route.

Collector

Pick up 100 different cards.

This counts different cards, not total pickups, so grabbing the same card twice does nothing for you. When you’re choosing rewards, take the unfamiliar card over the duplicate even if the duplicate looks stronger in the moment. Card pack rewards from quests feed into this too, so they’re worth prioritising early while your collection is still thin.

Exploration Achievements

This is where the time actually goes. The mapping achievements reward thoroughness over speed, and one of them gates a new character, so there’s a real payoff beyond the achievement pop.

Spelunker

Map every tunnel of The Forgotten Path.

Explore each branch before you push toward the boss. If you beeline for the boss you’ll miss tunnels and have to come back for a fresh run. Finishing this also completes the Search Party quest, which unlocks a new character — so this one earns you something beyond the badge.

Urbexer (Hidden)

Map every tunnel of The Facility.

The Facility is the second route to the Gloom, added at Early Access launch. It’s one of the rarest achievements in the game, so go in expecting to need a few runs before you’ve mapped all of it. Don’t expect a single clean sweep to do it.

Space is wrong here

Find a secret tunnel.

In The Forgotten Path, one of the rest spots has a hidden, locked door sitting in the darkness. It’s easy to walk straight past if you’re not scanning your surroundings. Unlock it and go through to earn the achievement.

Whatever Man

Embrace Apathy.

For this one you need to be playing as the Concerned Parent. At a rest stop, use the Shrine card and light it. An option then appears to select the card Apathy, and taking it unlocks the achievement. The character requirement is the part that trips people up, so make sure you’re on the right run before hunting for the shrine.

Combat and Kill Achievements

The kill achievements range from a single fight to a long background grind. How you build your deck matters more here than raw aggression.

Heavy Handed

Hold 20 cards in 1 hand.

You need a lot of card draw and very few plays within the same fight. Start with cards that have a Draw effect, then pick a long, safe encounter to stack your hand. Fast kills work against you here — you want the fight to drag so you can keep drawing.

Gunk Slayer (Hidden)

Kill Gunkworm.

Gunkworm is an enemy or boss you need to defeat. Its name comes from the achievement’s internal ID, which is why it looks a bit odd next to the others.

Gloom Slayer (Hidden)

Kill Gloomworm.

This is linked to reaching the Gloom, which ties into the Gloom Walker quest. Patch 0.6.24 repaired this achievement, so if it refused to unlock for you before, make sure the game is up to date before trying again.

Would you love me if I were a worm?

Kill 10 worms.

This one is much rarer than the boss kills, which suggests the count spans many runs rather than a single one. It was also repaired in patch 0.6.24. I’ll be honest: which enemies actually count as worms isn’t confirmed, so you can’t really target it — just keep playing and let the counter climb.

MURDERER

Murder 1000 creatures.

A long grind that stretches across many runs. Quick, efficient fights against weak enemies get you there fastest, so don’t burn time on drawn-out battles if you’re specifically farming this.

Dying on Purpose

A couple of achievements want you to lose, which cuts against every instinct the rest of the game builds. Here’s how to do it deliberately.

DIE

Die 10 times.

This counts across your whole save, so it arrives on its own if you just keep playing. No need to farm it unless you’re impatient.

Soft Headed (Hidden)

Die by bashing.

Get yourself down to 5 HP, then play the Bash card. The card breaks something and deals 5 damage, so bashing with only 5 HP left kills you and triggers the achievement. Getting to exactly 5 HP is the fiddly part — plan it rather than hoping it happens.

Suggested Unlock Order

If you’d rather not chase these randomly, this is the sequence I’d follow. It front-loads the easy wins and lets the long counters build in the background while you work on everything else.

  1. On your first runs, set up a campfire and decline to feed the toad (Boy Scout, Heartless).
  2. Take as many different cards as you can while you’re still learning your decks (Collector, Heavy Handed).
  3. Map The Forgotten Path fully before pushing for the Gloom (Spelunker, then Gloom Slayer).
  4. Switch to The Facility for Urbexer and any secret tunnels.
  5. Let DIE, MURDERER, and the worm count build up in the background while you work through the rest.

Quests That Overlap

The game has 10 unlock quests, and several of them line up neatly with achievements — which is why doing them together saves you runs. These are the ones worth pairing up.

Quest Goal Reward
Search Party Discover all tunnels in The Forgotten Path New character
Gloom Walker Reach the Gloom New path
Camper Fill all spots in a campsite Card pack
Adventurous Discover 20 exploration cards Card pack
Armed Discover 30 combat cards Card pack

Notice how Search Party and Gloom Walker sit right on top of the Spelunker and Gloom Slayer routes — knock out the quests and the achievements fall out together. That’s most of why the suggested order above is shaped the way it is.

Conclusion

None of the 14 are genuinely hard once you know what triggers them — the difficulty is in the hidden ones and the counter that quietly spans dozens of runs. Get your game updated past patch 0.6.24, plan the deliberate deaths and the toad refusal early, and the rest will fill in while you’re busy mapping tunnels and building decks.
