After you have gone on your maiden voyage you are now ready for the open seas! Now a lot has changed since RARE put together the following video HOWEVER it covers the most important basics and the things that have remained the same since launch.

Since the launch of the game there have been some changes around the addition of new trading companies, new voyage types, special forts, etc. Some of the KEY information you need to know though is.

There are now 5 Trading Companies that you can turn in treasure for and rep up their levels.

• Gold Hoarders: Treasure Chests and Maps
• Order of Souls: Hunting Skeletons
• Merchants: Finding Animals and Cargo Runs
• Hunter’s Call: Fishing and selling the meats.
• Reaper’s Bones: Hunting and killing other pirates
• Athena’s Fortune: Pirate Legend Exclusives

The objective of the game is to level up these trading companies and achieve Pirate Legend status by getting 50 in atleast 3 of the trading companies. However the REAL objective is to have fun and adventure with your friends. You are entering a whole new shared world with other pirates. Some of the best thrills in the game come from not knowing what is going to happen when you click that set sail button.

NOW the next most important thing you need to be aware of is FOOD and WEAPONS. Everyone at the beginning has access to all weapons and you find food throughout the world in barrels and on the ground. I put together a complete guide with charts to show you and compare all the foods. Check that out here

For new players I recommend using the Sword and the Blunderbuss or Flintlock. However at the end of the day find the weapon combination that fits you the best.

Now that you understand the basics of how to play the game. The next most important thing is understanding how to be successful in PvP! I have been playing since launch and have developed many guides that have helped so many people.

Throughout the seas there are a couple of ways to make money. The most successful and luctrative way is to do forts with an experienced crew. Other important things in the game as far as currency goes are around ancient coins and doubloons. You will want to make sure you know how to farm these beautiful things. So check these videos out
