Path of Exile: All Steam Items

Posted on January 26, 2021
This guide gives some basic information and background on the Steam Items available for Path of Exile.
Imp Masks
The Imp Masks were introduced in one of the Steam Winter sales of previous years. The masks were made to be bought and sold on the Steam Community Market, and the costs for the items are player driven but are also based on rarity. The image below shows the full set.

Skulls (Steam Winter Sale)
These Skulls were also introduced in a Steam Winter sale of previous years. These skulls were made to be bought and sold on the Steam Community Market, and the costs for the items are player driven but are also based on rarity. The image below shows the full set.

Skulls (Non-Event)
I actually found these items incidentally while doing a market search for the skulls in the previous section and figured I would include them here. I’m simply not sure how these skulls are acquired. If I were to wager a guess, it’s likely something to do with related items found in the micro sale system in Path of Exile.

Steam Items vs PoE Market Items
So I’ve been told, most people that actually play PoE don’t care about the Steam Items related to the game because some of the cosmetics you get in the game are a lot better. When I actually got into the game to see what they were talking about, I noticed that there were a lot of cosmetic sets that could be purchased and applied to a character.

The thing about the PoE sets is that they have cosmetics for every slot, not just the helmet slot. Notably, the PoE sets have a lot more eye candy to them as well. The items that were designed for the Steam Community Market have thus far been exclusively head slot items.

Since Path of Exile is free to play, they make their money with the micro-transaction system in game. Thus the cosmetics in game also cost a lot more then the few cents you can pay for one of the more common Steam Items on market.

Regardless of which you go with, the next section shows you how to equip the skins to your gear.

Equipping Cosmetics
The Steam Items are classified as Cosmetic Items in Path of Exile. The have no special uses or abilities, they are simply custom pixels. This section shows you how to equip your Steam Items on to your character. You will not lose the items in game play after they are equipped, however, I have noticed that only one character can use a particular skin at a time. If you want multiple characters to use the same skin, you will need to have duplicate skins.

Path of Exile: All Steam ItemsIn the screenshot above, you see the menu on the lower left open, and Cosmetics highlighted in the menu. Select this option or press K on your keyboard.

Tip: Alternately, you can press I to open your inventory and select the Cosmetics tab in the upper right corner.

Path of Exile: All Steam ItemsIn the screenshot above, the helmet slot is selected and it shows you what options I would have for selecting a headpiece cosmetic in game.

Pixelation
You ever noticed those cosmetics look over pixelated? This is because the default game settings are for best dynamic gameplay, not for best graphics. There is a setting that allows you to see all those pixels as intended by those that designed the cosmetics. Let me show you how they really look!

Path of Exile: All Steam ItemsThis screenshot shows the default settings, with the pixelation in the cosmetic and actually anything animated, like the fire in the background.

Path of Exile: All Steam ItemsThis screenshot shows the setting toggled to disabled, which shows cleaner graphics but may affect your gameplay.

To toggle this setting yourself, press O on your keyboard for options, scroll down to the advanced settings, and disable the Dynamic Resolution setting.
