Mutiny Island: Beginners’ Tips

Posted on October 25, 2019

Here’s some quick tips and general info to get you all started for when
the game launches in a few hours.

–CONTROLS–

Mutiny Island does not use the mouse.
Gamepad is recommended for optimal play and can easily be configured
within the options menu at any time.

Mutiny Island: Beginners' Tips

To configure Gamepad controls in-game, go to the options menu while the controller is plugged in. Select Gamepad Config to change the controls to your liking.

–KEYBOARD CONTROLS–
ARROW KEYS = Movement
Z or SPACEBAR or ENTER = ACCEPT INTERACT OK JUMP
X or ESC or NUM0 = OPEN MENU CANCEL
W or PAGEDOWN = ATTACK
Q or PAGEUP = USE SIDEARM FIRE CANNONBALLS TARGET ENEMY

F3 = ASPECT RATIO
F4 = FULL SCREEN

BASIC GAMEPLAY TIPS:
Tip 1: You don’t need to have an Axe actively equipped to chop down trees. (You do need to own one at least.)

Tip 2: (RAFT CHANGED TIP NOT VALID) You must be in the water when trying to place a crafted Temporary Raft. Managing your swimming is an important mechanic in Mutiny Island. You can only swim in the water for a limited amount of time. Pay attention to the sound and visual text indicator on the side of the screen as it will indicate how close to drowning you are.

Tip 3: Attacking consumes stamina as does swimming.

Tip 4: Don’t be scared to restart if you feel like it. Although Mutiny Island is not a rogue-like, it does share some similarities. After watching the introduction cut-scene the first time, you can skip it in subsequent reruns.

Tip 5: If you see a Naval Vessel on fire in the ocean, there’s a chance you can scavenge it for treasure! Be mindful to manage your swimming and not drown.

Tip 6: Beds can be used as a respawn point, as long as
they are not owned. Beds are also used to save the game.

Tip 7: Lots of things in the environment can be interacted with.

Tip 8: Ports are the best place to sell your treasure, weapons and supplies.

Tip 9: Store items you don’t want to risk losing in a Storage Chest.
Personal Storage Chest Cache can be accessed anywhere from the
map, as long as you have a Chest.

Tip 10: Drowning or Dying will make you lose some of your held items.
Equipment you’re actively wearing is unaffected. The more you play, the more accustomed you will become to your swimming cues, which will allow you to travel more freely. Practice your swimming to get a good idea of your limits. You might even find an unexpected island or treasure! The more you swim, the better your swimming capabilities will become.
