I don’t explain the story. And the notes don’t effect the gameplay itself. That’s the reason why I’ve put # when I was talking about notes. Not that I didn’t like or I wasn’t interested in or anything. Just to clarify.
Chapter 1
NOTE: You can do these letter collecting parts of the game in any order. It doesn’t effect the game. I’m just explaining stuff with the quickest pathway that I can come up with. If you follow these steps you can finish the game in under 6 minutes. But otherwise, there’s simply nothing it changes.
And an another note: Feel free to read any notes you find. It seems like it doesn’t effect anything. I’ve finished this game a lot of times with reading and without reading notes but it didn’t seem like it’s doing anything.
You start off on the first floor of this 3F mansion. The first thing you see is a staircase in front of you, the mansion’s main door behind you and a desk near the staircase. I named this room the “Entrance room”
- Walk through the desk with a note on it.
The note will say,
Write your full name on a piece of paper
Turn off all your lights
Open the door, blow out your candle then relight your candle.
You have now invited the Midnight Man
Clear your sins
- When you read this note, your character will find a match under it.
And then you’ll get the first achievement of the game.
You’re Gonna Need This
- Go upstairs. Take the door on the west.
- You’ll find yourself in a hallway that has rose patterned carpeting on the floor.

- # The first door on the west is actually empty,
yet

- The second door on the west goes to the bathroom. Enter it.
- When you’re in the bathroom you’ll see a drawer next to the sink. There’s a blue keycard on it.
- Take it.
- When you go out through the hallway again and walk through the east wing of it, you’ll see 4 doors;
-one made of wood
-a gray one
-a blue one
-and one on the south - Take the first, wooden door.
- You’ll find yourself in a bedroom. There’s a bed with a drawer next to it.
- On the top of the drawer, there’s a letter.
- When you pick this letter up, the second achievement of this game will pop up.
Lust
- Don’t leave this room yet.

- Now there’s a branch here.
- There are two different endings about what you do and don’t do in this room.
- There’s a wardrobe to the west.
#You’ll find some notes under it. - When you examine the wardrobe by pressing Z,E or space button, a choice will pop up.
-if you choose to push it away, you’ll get the ‘Survivor’ ending.
-if you choose not to, you’ll get the ‘Sins Cleared’ ending.The game doesn’t have any saving system, so you have to play the game from the start again if you want to get both achievements. I’ll branch my own guide from this point too. If you don’t want to get them both, you can just scroll past it and get the one you want.
Chapter 1, Sins Cleared Ending
NOTE: Because you started collecting your sins away, a faded silhouette will began to follow you around sometimes. Don’t let it catch you. The silhouette will simply blow off your match and if you don’t have any matches left, it’ll be game over for you.
- Don’t push away the wardrobe.
- Leave the room.
- When you leave the room, you can enter the gray door.
#There’s a broken television with some notes under it. Like I said, reading or not reading notes won’t effect the gameplay. - Walk through the end of the right wing. There’s a door on the south.
- Go through it.
- You’ll find yourself in a big room with again, rose carpeting on the floor. There’s a blood stained door on the southwest corner, there’s a locked room on the southeast. And on the upper right of this room, there’s a door you can go through.
- Enter that door.
- You’ll find yourself in a pretty big library.
- Walk north a bit, and then east.
- Don’t go downstairs yet.
- When you reach the far east side of the library, proceed to walk to south.
- The wooden flooring under you will slightly crack while you’re walking on it.
- And then you’ll see a drawer lookalike thingy with a letter on it.
- Take the letter.
- When you take the letter, an achievement will pop up.
Pride
- And then, turn back and start walking north.
- A scene will start.
- When the scene is over, walk to the west. There’s a table next to the wall.
- There’s a match on that table. Take it.
- Walk north a bit, you’ll see a door.
- Enter.
- Now you’ll be in a big, green carpeted room. It has the same layout as the other big, rose carpeted room had.
# On the upper left corner, there’s a cabinet that has notes under it.
# You can push it and read the notes if you want to. It doesn’t effect the story in any way. - Walk upwards and you’ll find a chocolate-bar patterned door.
- Enter.
- You’ll find yourself in a room that has checkboard flooring. And the room also has a really big dining table. Walk north and then west.
- Near the blood stains, there’s a key on the table.
- Take it.
- Now go all the way back down to the big green carpeted room. (Pass the dining room)
- Head south when you enter the big room.
- There’s a room on the right. Enter there.
- You’re now in a really small corridor, take the first door on the right.
- You’ll unlock it with your green gem key.
- You’re now in a bedroom with a green bed, a computer desk with stuff on it.
#And up to north, you’ll see a door. That door goes to the basement and with this ending, you don’t need to go there. But keep that in mind for the other ending if you want to. - Take the letter on the bed.
- When you take the letter, you’ll get an achievement.
Sloth
- And now, head back to that dining room again.
- Walk far west and south.
- There’s a door that leads to the kitchen.
- Enter it.
!! When you enter the kitchen, the silhouette may or may not chase you. Just to be safe, try not to walk straight to the left. Even if it spawns there and sprints at you, it won’t be able to catch you.
- Walk to the northwest of the kitchen. There’s a locked door that needs a keycard to open it.
- Use your blue keycard on the reader.
- Unlock the door and walk into the freezer.
- There’s a letter on the ground.
- When you take the letter from the ground an achievement will pop up.
Gluttony
- You can now leave the freezer.
- When you’re in the kitchen again, walk southeast.
- You’ll enter a room with bronze carpeting and a television. I’ll call this room the “TV Room”.
!!!There’s a match and a note on the table. Take the match. - Walk to southwest and enter through that door.
- Now you’re in a small corridor again. Take the first room on the left.
#You’ll enter a room full of boxes. You may inspect them if you want to. - Walk straight to the west in the room. There’s a letter on one of the cardboxes.
- When you take the letter, an achievement will pop up.
Greed
- Leave the room. Walk south until you reach the end. Take the door on the right.
- You’ll unlock it.
#You don’t need to enter it, just unlocking it will be enough. This door connects this corridor to the Entrance room. - Now go back to the kitchen. You can use the TV Room’s route,it’ll be a lot faster.
- When you enter the kitchen, take the door on the right wall.
- You’ll unlock it.
- Now you’re in a gigantic red carpeted room.
#You can go towards south and unlock the door. Again, you don’t need to go there. That door connects this giant red carpeted room to the Entrance room. - There’s a vent on the upper left corner of this room.
!!Inspect it, the character will find a match. Take it. - Walk through east.
- There’s a door there. Enter it.
- You’ll find yourself in a wooden room that seems like it’s a small shed. There’s blood on the ground and shelves.
- Push the table away.
- Inspect the crack on the wall.
!!The character finds a match that has been stuck in there.If you’ve picked up all the matches that I’ve talked about since now, an achievement will pop up for you. If you didn’t, you can do it whenever you want to.
Light The Way

- Take the letter on the table.
- When you take the letter, an achievement will pop up.
Envy - When you open your eyes, you’ll see a letter on the ground.
- Take it.
- When you take the letter, an achievement will pop up.
Wrath
- A scene will start.
- When the scene ends and credit rolls, you’ll get an achievement.

- Inside that room, there’s a golden key.
- Take it.
- Now head back to the room I wanted you to memorize. If you can’t recall where it was;
-Exit from that blue door-ed room.
-Walk to the west and then south.
-Enter the Entrance room.
-Go downstairs. Head east.
-You’ll see a door there. Enter.
-It’s the first door on the right. - When you enter that room, head to the basement.
- When you enter the basement, unlock the blood stained red door with your basement key.
- Take the letter from the ground.
- When you take the letter, an achievement will pop up.
Wrath
- Head to the Entrance room.
- Go through the main door.
You’ll unlock the second female character, Dawn.
Credits will roll and you’ll get the “Survivor” achievement.Survivor

The reason why I didn’t do a “Aftermath” route guide;
Because Aftermath route is technically not a try not to die thing, it’s just there for you to appreciate the effort that’s put into this game, and to explore the house a bit.
So I didn’t do a guide of it because there’s no need to.
