Whether you’re new to the game or a seasoned veteran, here are some tips and means to make all the sweet gold you’ve ever wanted.
Coming back nearly 10 years after I first began my journey in what might be my favorite MMORPG of all time, I finally earned my riches and saw the ways that truly any player, beginner or seasoned, can begin to find their own fortune.
I cannot guarantee all these tactics will get you all the money you want as fast as you want but they are a means to make money if you are willing to put in the time.
Note:
In the following entries I often reference the “auction house” which is not the one in Tara but instead the one on the lower menu on your screen on the far right symbolized by a scale. This is a marketplace to sell items to anyone anywhere across the server. However, a substitution to this can be a personal or player-owned shop. This is where you have a bag and a permit in your inventory (purchasable at the general store and bank respectively) and set-up shop in or outside Dunbarton (this is the recommended spot) and sell items from there. You have to stay logged in the whole time and people can only find your items by walking up to the shop, which is why I recommend the auction house where both of the prior do not apply. However, there are benefits to using a personal shop and it should always be considered. Always base your prices off the auction house, however.

** – for players willing to pay real money
By no means, however, is a high luck stat or any luck at all required for gold-making to be successful.
Here is a preview of the screen where you would assign potential stat points–I only logged in points to STR and DEX for my talent, which is not necessary for money-making.
This is not going to make you rich beyond your wildest dreams, but instead it builds a good habit and helps pay for beginning expenses like weapon repairs and potions.
Potential: sub 100 gold to thousands of gold
You can find shadow missions in either Tara or Taillteann on the board designated for such by the Stonehenge Temporary Headquarters and the Taillteann Headquarters respectively.
Potential: Thousands/tens of thousands of gold
Granted, a lot of things we mabi players hoard aren’t worth a lot, it is important to clear out our inventories every now and then and make space and a quick buck. Given this, never stop checking the auction house before selling to a vendor. Something you have that seems useless, like common leather or magic powder, is actually pretty valuable on the auction house (~5k and ~15k respectively).
Generally, I live by the rule: “if you don’t have a use for it now and it’s not practically unattainable, sell it”. Yes, there are some things you should hang onto if they’re very rare because they can very well gain value over time and if you have the space, why not keep a very rare item. But for more common and even uncommon finds, if you have no immediate use, send them to the auction house or a nearby vendor.
Potential: sub 100 gold to millions of gold
Some of the life skills I’ve seen to be most useful are weaving, herbalism, and potion making.
Below are some prices at the time of making this guide of common leather and silk, both of which are craftable or collectible!
Potential: Thousands to hundreds of thousands of gold
First, level up your homestead to level 4 from growing crops. From there you can start making base herb patches which yield the most common herb which is involved in most all potions. You’ll need 30 herbs in your inventory to make them which should be an easy feat with patches found in places like the woods next to the logging camp or the grassy areas south of Dunbarton. Some dungeons even have one or two rooms with about 3 herb patches in them of varying types.
Second, make profit. Well, it’ll take a bit longer than that. You will need to build up a collection of many patches (I’m talking 10+ of each) of all different herbs before you’ll really see the money. But it’s not to easy you won’t have any money at all to begin with, no! Base herbs are about 1k each so you’ll build up a comfortable profit that later moves into herbs worth consistently 2500+, some are more often around 5k.
If you would like, experiment with making potions as well. The basic HP potion market doesn’t allow much money to be made but specialty potions are of more value and worth looking into but require more skill level, more potential failure, and more money for resources.
Below is the beginning of my herb farm on my newest character on the Nao server–this farm can bring in at least 100k a day and it is still fairly small with mostly base herbs!
Potential: Thousands to hundreds of thousands of gold
This system of making money is where you find an item for below market value, buy it, and resell it for market value. It is not a guaranteed feat since many mabi players know the market and it is very easily manipulated. How you will accomplish it is you will go to the busiest channel in your server and scope out the shops outside and in the townsquare of Dunbarton. Sellers here often sell below the market value that you find in the auction house. All you have to do is find something below the lowest list price on the auction house, buy it, then resell it seconds later.
I will admit this is not a very lucrative way to make money for the most part, especially if you’re not wanting to hang onto things. Clothing and armor prices take the longest, usually months, to change while consumables rise and fall hourly. Again, only partake in this if you know your market, have some wealth accumulated, and have some time on your hands if the market calls for it.
Potential: estimated tens of thousands of gold
Potential: hundreds of thousands to millions of gold
(P.S. I had 840 out of the 900 coins needed to get this dress before it was removed from the event, can you tell how upset I am T_T)
Keep in mind though that the market won’t necessarily reflect what you think of your item. I know I have an NX exclusive Halloween Vampire Dress from 2012 (seen right) but there’s no real market or value for it and I’m willing to take no less than an extraordinary amount because of the value I think it has. But at the end of the day, it is up to the other players what it’s worth and don’t be afraid to hang onto it longer for a better price or keep it and cherish the memories.
Potential: tens of thousands to millions of gold
I’m an adamant believer that Mabinogi is not pay to win but there are advantages to paying when you play. Limited time gachas are some of the best ways to earn money. The rarest items in gachas are worth 10 mil+ and some of the “throw aways” can still be worth hundreds of thousands if not millions themselves (i.e: fixed dye ampoules).
Basically the system here is to buy NX with real life money, use the NX to buy gachas, open them in-game, then sell the contents for gold! If you don’t want to wait when it comes to making money, this is a pretty favorable option but it should only be used if the real-life money being spent is entirely disposable income. I think of it as paying real-life money for the things I want in-game that I’d buy with the gold and I consider if that is worth it–if it is to you, go forth!
Potential: hundreds of thousands to millions of gold
All you have to do is visit Blatt is Tailteann and purchase a plot of land. There are only a limited number per server and per channel so don’t be let down if you don’t get one right away, just try the next day since farm leases expire after one real-life week and are back up for lease.
The farming process is long and rather nuanced and MabinogiWorld has a great comprehensive guide[wiki.mabinogiworld.com] on how a farm works if the in-game explanation does not work. In short, you must rent land, buy seeds, and complete actions that have anywhere from a 20-40 minutes real-life cooldown (so don’t expect to do much mabi playing during this, it’s all work). Some crops have a pretty tight schedule because they require maximum attention nearly every day for 100% growth. Again, MabinogiWorld has a great guide on this if when you jump into it it’s a bit confusing.
Here is the location of the farm manager, Blatt, who you’ll lease land from and buy seeds from in Tailteann.
