Overview
Standard, the default style
Power, a costly style emphasizing damage and knockback
Technical, a familiar style that utilizes a finisher technique
Of the three, Technical is not a slave to SP management. It is also the least mash-friendly due to the pay-off of activating Spectral Weapons when the Gideon Coffin flashes at the end of certain combo strings. Doing so will activate a charged/powered-up variant of that Spectral Weapon’s attack. There appears to be a punishment built-in as repeating a single combo will not cause the Gideon Coffin to flash, so avoid spamming easy moves such as LHL (Bayonetta fans know this as PKP).
Power is SP starved yet unfathomably powerful. It also boasts the longest Charge times which may require an understanding of positioning alongside a tank build.
Between those is Standard, the style equipped by default. Although it retains some of the combos found in Technical, its prone to button mashing due its balance of damage and SP generation. I highly recommend moving onto Technical ASAP as you’ll have likely spent 15+ hours using Standard within the 1.0 campaign.Dodge Offset exists and can be utilized within the Technical style to ensure that combo strings won’t get broken. To use Dodge Offset, simply dodge in the middle of a combo string when using a weapon set to Technical. This allows you to negate damage or reposition while ensuring you can benefit from the Gideon Coffin’s flash mechanic. Beware that it may be overridden by Counter.
