Choosing a class in Elden Ring is a bit like choosing how you want to experience the game. But it’s not a rigid thing, it’s just a base. Any class can adopt any type of gameplay effectively with enough levels and finding the right equipment. The problem is that it may take a lot of hours to rectify the situation, so it is better to choose well from the start. So there is no better class per se, just the one that will help you get off to a good start. The most important thing is to choose a class and a way of playing that you want.

If Elden Ring is your first FromSoftware game, a great adventure awaits you in more ways than one. It takes a little time to become familiar with the studio’s rather particular approach to many gameplay elements. Purists tend to advise to play a melee class in these games, since they are usually designated for the latter, this offers an experience both intense and balanced. This means that you will rarely meet a boss made trivial by the fact of playing in melee, but you will also not meet unfathomable bosses in this way.

The Vagabond : It is the most robust of all, it is well equipped, with good weapons. It can immediately be played with the very comfortable sword and shield combo for beginners as well as for experts. It can also be played with the Hallebarde, to gain stretching and attacking power. Subsequently, it can be used for almost any type of build of the game, making it a solid and universal base. Just remember to remove weapons that you do not use in order to avoid being afflicted by overload of equipment.

An alternative is the Samurai : Rather robust and equipped with a katana, it is formidable in melee. However, it prefers rolls and dodges more than the default shield, which is a good thing if you want to prepare for bosses and PvP.
