Alluris: How to Unlock Races, Backgrounds & Items

There was no guide up yet, so i figured to start one to help some people out on missing unlockables. This is a work in progress as I have only had 2 playthroughs myself. It’s possible that there is multiple ways to unlock something or that I missed any requirements. Feel free to comment more info or correct me on things.

PLEASE NOTE: THERE MAY BE SPOILERS, ESPECIALLY IN THE ITEM SECTION

If you are still on your first or first few runs, you may want to experience things yourself first.

The old Hag that can be found on the Road needs to be turned in at Mythrandir and then married.

Dwarf
– Healthier
– Ale Tolerant
– Knows Hildabor

I believe you must be exalted with the dwarfs (do all quests in their city Hildabor) then marry a dwarven Lady. The city can be found in the Mountains you need a lot of gold to enter.

Ratfolk
– Less Health
– Extra Gold
– Knows Cities

Need to get into the Cave dungeon on the road and delve deeper. Marry the Rat Queen.

Tiefling
– Normal Health
– Wild Magic
– Mysterious

I unlocked these in the Mountains, it may be possible that this only works after day 500. I killed Demons in the mountain after Day 500 and was supposedly dropped a map for the mountains (although I didn’t get the item) and after many fights an event popped up regarding the map where I fought a demon to save a demon child. I adopted it (not sure if necessary) and was granted the achievements/race. I unfortunately don’t remember if specific items were needed.

Fairy
– Least Health
– Magical
– Hard to hit

Go to Mythrandir the Elven city and get the quest to find the Magic Arrow, then head back into the deeper forest within the Forest and find the miniature town event, the fairies need you to defeat the demon.

Merfolk
Don’t have it yet.

Cartographer
– Has all Maps
– Knows Paths

You need to find the three Map items (Forest, Mountain, Undercity) in a single run. Refer to the item section to see where they are.

Bard
– Owns a Lute
– Can play it

I unlocked this in the capital, Alluris by buying the Flute at the Musical instrument Shop. I Believe this event only pops up if you have Musical Talent which you can buy from an Elf in their City somewhere in the Forest. It cost me 800gold, not sure if there is other requirements because he didn’t always sell it.

Wizard
– Knows Magic
– Well Read
– Kinda Nerdy

I believe I unlocked this at the Wizard Tower in the Mountains. First you need Magical Powers, I forgot where to get it but there is multiple ways to obtain it. Then you need to go back to the Tower with a Soul Gem – again there is multiple ways to obtain it, one is from buying it at the dark mage that sometimes shows up in the Tavern in Alluris (He sells different items at random, so it can take multiple attempts to get the time).

Dark Knight
– Unsettling
– Dread’s Child
– Has Soulstone

You need to defeat Baron Dread (and maybe sit on his Throne?) to unlock this. I believe you need the Mountains map from the Undercity and Soul Blade from the Frozen Wastes.

Barbarian
I unlocked this in the Mountains. I believe you need a Bear for the Barbarrian event to pop up, which you can get in the Forest by giving the bear a Fruit Basket or a hug if you have Dunce which can be found on the Road. Maybe you need the quest to find the earrings for the Dwarf for the quest to pop up. In the event just follow the barbarians and lick the stone.

Racer

Need to win the Race in the Dunes.

Lawkeeper

Become exalted (Do all quests) at the Monastery in the Frozen Wastes. More info in the Item section.

Maybe I will start working on how to get the different items. Seems like pretty important info seeing as they are necessary for most unlocks, but it’s a lot of work, I will see how it goes.
