Since no achievement guide was made for almost a year since release and personally I needed it to clarify some things – I decided to make one in order to help others with this already difficult game
Introduction
- Brutal difficulty and get less than 3000 damage
- Casual difficulty speedrun
- Casual difficulty + OldSchool Mode + Elite Mode
For your convenience I’ll put achievements related to each one in groups.
And of course it will contain SPOILERS
Brutal Playthrough
Self-explanatory, but prepare for quite a challenge since devs just love to put player in cramped rooms filled with multiple fast and durable enemies. For skills pick Blunt Weapons, Pistols and some Evasion-Precision if you have spare points. Use 2-handed hammers, check secrets and pick unique hammer Ram (knockbacks enemies, can throw them into pits instantly killing them, extremely useful). For pistols find Repeater, with some luck and Ricochet skill it will let you spam groups of enemies with bullets to death.
Ninja – Take no more than 3000 damage in a single playthrough on Hard or Brutal difficulty.
This one is tricky. First you’ll need to avoid ANY damage during playthrough, if you got hit, no matter how small the damage was – reload the game, better waste 10 mins than playthrough, trust me. Second – during Chapter 8 “Poisoned Halls” you will be hit by Golem with unavoidable damage for around 500 HP. And third – the final boss, will be hard, since not only she hits hard and spawns multiple dangerous enemies, the game will disable manual saves and will autosave you during the fight (not really often). Keep all that in mind and play safe.
It’s Over – Defeat the main boss..
Self-explanatory and unmissable. Use Decoy Gadget to keep some enemies occupied while you trying to kill something and move around lasers safely. Manual saves will be disabled during this fight and the game will autosave each time Lora speaks to you, during and between fight stages.
Speedrun Playthrough
Start the game on Casual Difficulty, set movement type on Continuous (you will run a bit faster) and enable Stop Time Mode. As soon as you enter your rig (choose Combat Rig) you can press CapsLock and enter StopTime Mode, which will stop the timer (very handy). StopTime will stay on even if you reload the game but will auto-disable each time you die or move to another floor. Pressing Esc for menu will also stop the timer. Avoid everything you don’t need to win. If you can make two steps and pick better weapon or secret – do it, avoid everything that requires more time. Run away from as much enemies as you can, kill only those blocking your path. Don’t forget to pick Ram hammer, it will help you in some occasions to clear path from enemies. For skills I followed dev’s advice on forums and went for Dual Blunt build and since the difficulty is casual you can face-tank almost every enemy, just remember to avoid Shock status effect, it will cut your damage in half and you need to kill everything fast.
Oh, and make a separate save at the beginning of each floor in case you’ll want to replay a specific part of this playthrough.
N00b – Beat the game on the lowest difficulty level.
Self-explanatory, complete the game on Casual. Do know that you won’t get it by completing it on higher difficulties.
Penta Kill – Kill 5 enemies at once.
First pick Advanced Discharger at Chapter 4 in “Door Synchronization Puzzle”, just in case. Proceed to Chapter 7 “Creepy Little Things”. At the very beginning remove the sack with Decoy gadjet (you won’t need it), walk away from the floor button then go back on it. Wait until you’re surrounded with spiders, since it’s Casual they won’t kill you. Since only 4 of them can be near you simultaneously – wait until the 5th spider comes closer and hit all of them with Basic Discharger. Then hit them all again. On Casual, in Combat Rig and without ANY Tech upgrades it won’t kill them. Wait again and hit them all with Advanced Discharger (probably won’t need it, but it deals more damage – just in case). All preceding achievements will pop-up too.
Elite Oldschool Playthrough
Enable Elite Mode when starting a New Game – manual saves will be disabled and the game will autosave one time at the beginning on each floor. Familiarize yourselves with enemies and especially floor trap puzzles to avoid unnecessary risks.
Oldschooler – Beat the game on the Old School mode.
Enable Old-School Mode when starting a New Game, this will disable your map, but who cares when you have internet (or good memory).
Hardcore – Beat the game on the Old School and Elite modes on at the same time.
Self-explanatory. Sounds scarier than it is. Free advice – use manual saves made for speedrun to practice particular chapters and their traps. For Chapter 9 “yellow-light-pit-puzzle” I recommend to enable StopTime and make a screenshot of the path, then follow it carefully.
Other Achievements
Loremaster – Read all notes and listen to all phonodiaries.. Almost all notes can be found in containers and secrets. There is one note lying on a floor in sack during your first encounter with Electric Spider, don’t miss it. You will also need to find Super Secret to get another note from it.
General tips are:
- When you enter new room – walk around it and search for chests and lockers.
- Use the maps from other guides to know where to look (I used this
- Nothing is missable. Until you start final bossfight you’ll be able to return and find the stuff you missed before.
Runkralf’s Legacy – Equip the Runkralf’s item set.
There are numerous things accociated with Runkralf, I’ve got this one by equipping his Crowbar and Gloves, both found in secrets on first levels.
Hoarder – Fill your inventory to the brim.
Just use bullets, Shift+LMB to take one from stack and place it in empty slot. Rinse and repeat.
Mystery – Find the super secret room.
Its in Chapter 10 “Arx Vaporum”. Use Green-Green-Red-Red-Green-Red teleporter code and walk into it, you will get an achievement and a chest with best armor in the game (and note for Loremaster)
Keen Eye – Find all regular secrets in the game.
Yet again use this guide, it shows all of them. For videos check Youtube, you won’t actually need them, there is always a hidden button near every secret door, check the map for it and press it.
Crit Uberlord – Score 4 critical hits in a row with any weapon.
Find any enemy. Save the game. Hit them with weapon. If the numbers are red – you scored a Crit Hit. If not – reload. Save after your Crit. Repeat 3 more times. You will get all preceding ones on your way to this one.
Gravity Killer – Cause 25 enemies to die by falling.
You may push enemies into pits with Shotguns, Unique 2-handed hammer Ram or just save-reload in Chapter 9 when during your voyage through radioactive tunnels you’ll need to drop some Criers into traps.
Skilled – Improve a circuit to the maximum rank
Self-explanatory. Max any skill tree and you’re good.
Rig Up! – Try each exo-rig.
Self-explanatory.
Thanks for the Support! – Play the game for 2 hours.
Hidden Achievement. Self-explanatory.
Better Save Than Sorry – Save your progress 300 times.
Hidden Achievement. Self-explanatory.
Everything else is mostly grinding and can be done by normal gameplay or farming specific enemies with specific weapons. Walk a lot, push containers a lot, kill everything with all possible weapons. Done.
