For Melissa K. and the Heart of Gold Collector’s Edition players, this guide provides tips for beating the final mini-game puzzle: the dreaded door block puzzle gauntlet.
Introduction
It’s not your fault that this is hard. This game was on smartphones with touchscreens. The intended method is with fingers, not computer mouse. Hidden Object Games are also casual difficulty, but this game’s developers decided the achievements should be difficult instead.
Do not worry, even if you are always getting 45 seconds or more, you should be able to complete it with this assistance.
- Play on a laptop with a touch screen if you have one. (Everyone else, keep reading.)
- Make sure to use the natural mouse on your computer. Do not use the custom cursor in the game that is shaped like a hand.
- Accept that any time you make a mistake, you must restart the puzzle. If you make 1 early error on medium you can recover. But you cannot recover on hard difficulty.
- After you successfully click a certain number of blocks, you have a few seconds of a “bonus mode”.
- You are always punished if you click a wrong block.
- Your build to bonus mode is reset every time you click but did not click a block. This is the same as a wrong block so you must restart.
- During this explosion bonus, more than 1 block is cleared if you click a block correctly, and your bonus is not reset if you click but did not click a block.
- Play in window mode with a smaller window size. Not too small, but small enough that you have to move your hand less. You will get better if you give yourself time to improve.
- Most of your clicks will be in middle (or top) of the grid. If the blocks get to the bottom third of the grid, it is a mistake.
- During the bonus mode most of your clicks will be in the top 30% of the grid. The blocks will be moving faster. This is the only way to get 39.99 timer or lower.
- You will have to practice staying at the top of the grid during the bonus explosion mode, but once you are better at it, you will start to see the 1 or 2 patterns. This is because you’ll start to click in the same blocks every time you attempt to beat the record.
- Imagine the grid divided into vertical columns. Along the “edge” of the columns where they meet is where you will click the most during the bonus mode. It clears the most blocks to click that area, alternating between left and right. And click any edge blocks (or skipped “floating” blocks) as needed to keep the blocks coming down fast.
- If during your bonus mode they are not coming down fast because of blocks on the edge, that it fine as long as there is fast travel during most of the bonus mode.
- If following these tips you start to consistently get the same time, but not good enough for expert (41.XX, 42.XX) then you are either on the block placement that is harder, or your path for clicking during bonus mode needs improvement.
I did not think it was possible, the best time I had gotten for years was 43.05. It really is all about forcing the blocks to move faster during the bonus explosion mode. You can do it! Keep trying! Or get a touchscreen computer!
