For new players of Return to Abyss, this is a guide for you to learn how to play Rozena, let’s check it out.
Prelude
Rozena’s base stats are the worst out of all the characters with only Asia having a slower movement speed.
Her starting weapon is the bell which sends out slow fish projectiles from the top of the screen (and bottom at higher projectile counts).
To unlock her you must figure it out yourself lmao have reached the fourth stage, unlocked all blessings and then find the collectible watch on the fourth stage.
However, to compensate for her poor stats and what makes her interesting for us as well as being the focus of this guide is…
…her attributes. Specifically her “Fish Kiss” which is unlocked at level 1.
This prevents Rozena from dying from any received damage so long as she is in contact with one of the fish spirits summoned from the bell. In case the engrish confused anyone.
The Setup
First navigate your way to the settings page and turn down the mysterious ‘Transparency’ slider and turn it down to 40% or whatever value you feel comfortable with.
Despite being called the “transparency” slider, this actually controls how opaque the players weapons and projectiles are with 100% being opaque and 0% being completely invisible. This is so we can actually see what is going on later on as well as the seeing the outlines of our fish.
‘Overload’ at level 2 gives us an additional fish spirit
‘Distorted Expansion’ at level 5 to increase the size of our fish
‘Fast Reloading’ to decreases the time between fish summons
Finally, ‘Choose First’ to reroll for the right weapon accessories on level up.
Game plan
Once we enter our chosen stage and kill our first few enemies, we will be trying to get two different accessories for our Bell.
Expansion Engraving and Instant Hammer will be the only weapon accessories we will be looking out for and we will try to pick up 3 of both.
and for our blessings we’ll be picking any purple ones we see if neither of our accessories are available with a preference for more rerolls (refresh) given the choice.
Once we reach level 7 or 10 depending on if we have all our blessings yet, our build comes online.
Payoff
We can let go of our keyboard/controller and stand still. Really. Due to “Fish Kiss” and the constant stream of fish spirits from the top and bottom of the screen, Rozena is now constantly in contact with at least one fish spirit and CANNOT DIE.
Any enemies will try to path to us and die from the marine onslaught. Any minibosses and tankier enemies will simply walk ontop of us and eventually drop their chest right ontop of us upon their death, thus allowing us to get our missing weapons and weapon evolutions all while standing still.
At this point we can pick whatever remaining weapons, accessories and blessings we prefer. I recommend picking up the sickle if available and evolve it into the Dusty Eddy as it will collect any exp and gold drops for us.
Finally, after we have acquired all weapons we can evolve our Bell into the Bell of Silence. This will replace our fish spirits with big purple whales that cover most of the screen. This will also allow for more freedom of movement (though moving up or down too quickly can result in a disruption in the timings of the fish/whales and create gaps in our chain of fish) and enable us to pick up any remaining drops.
