For The Backrooms Simulator players who are collecting achievements, this is a guide for obtaining 100% steam achievements in game, let’s check it out.
Achievements
After obtaining this, make sure you increase your walking speed to the maximum value and leave it there. This will drastically reduce the time taken to unlock the “tfw” and “Marathon” achievements.Quickscoper – “Set your mouse sensitivity to the maximum value”
Fly – “Jump 100 times”
tfw – “Walk for a total distance of 1mi (1.6km) while looking at the floor”
Unlike the previous three achievements which are self-explanatory and can be obtained in a minute or two, this one might actually be a bit finicky. The requirement sounds easy, but it’s not entirely clear what counts as looking at the floor, and it’s also unclear whether the game tracks distance traveled while you’re jumping. If you run around looking at the floor for long enough, you’re bound to get this eventually, but for best results I’d make sure your camera is aimed as directly at the floor as possible, and avoid any jumping while you sprint.
Marathon – Walk for a total distance of 26.2mi (42.2km)
The Backrooms Simulator has no way of tracking distance traveled in-game, so this one is difficult for the same reason “tfw” is. It’s going to be very tedious to unlock this, so I advise just putting on a podcast or some music and sprinting through hallways for a long time while avoiding ANY jumps.
If you want to check your statistics for # of jumps or distance walked, you can find the game’s player.log file at AppData\LocalLow\Pixel Plant LLC\The Backrooms Simulator\player.log. After scrolling down a bit, you can see lines like “jump[number]” and “TFW DISTANCE [number], which continuously update in the log file and track your progress as you play. The units used in the distance stat are not the same as the miles/kilometers in the achievement descriptions, but I unlocked Marathon after reaching a distance stat of somewhere between 10000 and 10446. As long as you avoid any jumps and are sprinting with your walk speed set to maximum in the settings, it should be achievable in around 90 minutes. However, if you’re like me and have a habit of holding down the spacebar to continuously sprint-jump the entire time you attempt this achievement, reaching the required distance could take well over four hours of playtime.
