With 0.5.2, came additional EOS support to enable proper crossplay functionality, between EGS and Steam – So if you have a friend on EGS with STE, and you’re playing on Steam, you can now invite them to your party/lobby.
Now this is actually an optional feature, you can simply just press cancel on the EOS launcher and play without the crossplay functionality. But it can be a little annoying to have to press cancel every time you launch STE – So here’s a quick video on how to disable it completely.
This is completely legal, and will not get you flagged/banned by EAC or the developers.
Why is EOS added?
Before the video part of this guide, a quick explanation of why it’s here (you can skip this and just scroll down to the video if you don’t care).
Epic online services have been apart of STE since the beginning. STE utilizes the EOS version of EAC, then there’s the EGS side of things where EOS is needed for the game to work on EGS.
The latest addition to EOS, is simply acting as a bridge between EGS and Steam, to allow friends to invite each other to their party/lobby if they’re on different platforms. As mentioned previously, this is completely optional if you want this functionality or not, so if you can’t be bothered clicking cancel every game launch, watch the video.
