If you play Endzone – A World Apart and you are a beginner of the game, this guide provide a walkthrough of first 40 seasons that might help you understand how to play, let’s check it out.
Introduction
- Survivalist Game where speed will kill! Micro managing is key!
- Completely Normal difficulty with all default settings. No Mods!
- Map seed for those that want to play along: 1907705252#2112121003000101110222000
- Approx time for this Walkthrough = 5 hrs
- Pause often and/or after each step.
- Hit the Build Next button to focus your builders.
- Save after each Phase!! This is more for me than you 🙂 but a good practice to adopt.
- Build Infrastructure first then SLOWLY add population.
- Set limits due to lack of space early on.
- EG: Set cloth/plastic/electronics/metal to 50 then slowly increase as needed.
- Food to 15,000
- Wood/scrap to 1500
- Neck scarfs and masks to 50 then slowly increase masks as needed.
- Radiation suits to 50
- Scrap toolsmetal tools to 50 then increase metal tools as your ability to produce them
increases.
Phase 1 – Breaking Ground
- Pause the game to take stock.
- Set your limits.
- Note: This will help with freeing up workers to complete tasks or simply move things around as needed throughout the game.
- Place task. (Gather all, which is needed at the beginning of the game)
- Make 3 of your workforce Builders. (This will change as you build)
- Place 6 cabins to begin population growth.
- Place Fishing Hut. (2 workers)
- Place Jetty.
- Place 1 Cistern. (2 workers)
- Note Build roads then place all builders as settlers to gather as many resources until season 3.
- Save Game!
- Season 3
Phase 2 – Get Those Resources!
- Place Scrapyard. (2 workers)
- Place 1 Warehouse.
- Place Forester. (2 workers)
- Note: Change work order to cut only to clear around camp, then change back to cut and replant once completed and moving the work area to a location close by but out of the way.
- Upgrade Mounted bus. (Once)
- Place Cistern. (2 total)
- Place 1 Cabin. (7 total)
- Note: Keep checking your task to ensure your settlers will keep working. And start to build roads if you haven’t already then place all builders as settlers to gather as many resources until season 6.
- Save Game!
- Season 6
Phase 3 – Radiation Protection
- Place 1 15×14 cultivation farm/Orchid. (2 workers)
- Place Charcoal Kiln. (1 worker once task triggers)
- Place 2 Recyclers. (1 worker each – both cloth)
- Note: If you need to, take one worker from fisher. Just remember to replace.
- Place 1 Tailor Once Cloth is available. (2 workers)
- Note: Only make masks once your charcoal Kiln is built. Try to keep 20 Neck Scarves for future tasks. Change Recyclers to 1x cloth, 1x metal.
- Place 1 Warehouse. (2 total)
- Place Herbal Hut.
- Note: Change area to work to the same as the forester.
- Place 1 Cabin. (8 total)
- Note: Add 1 worker to your Fishing Hut & Water Carrier when able to.
- Save Game!
- Season 10
- Note: If you run out of protective clothing.. you will get a task to make X No. of masks. You will be able to do this after building the Charcoal Kiln.
Phase 4 – Expanding Food, Water and adding Community Buildings
- Note: Monitor your people, ensure you have at least 1 Settler and 1 Builder.
- Place 1 Workshop. (1 worker)
- Note: Metal tools only. You can make 20 scrap tools, you will need them for the Expeditions later
- Place Gatherer’s Hut. (1 worker)
- Note: Change area to work to the same as the forester once location has been decided.
- Place 2 Recyclers. (1 worker each)
- Note: 1x plastic, 2x cloth 1x metal.
- Place 1 Warehouse. (3 total)
- Place Shelter.
- Note: Try to hold off on houses and completing this until the housing task is triggered. You can use the resource rewards.
- Upgrade 1 Cistern to Water Tower and turn on charcoal filtration.
- Note: This will trigger the first Research Point Task – Knowledge is power – and work on getting 15 workers.
- Place 2 Cabins. (10 total)
- Place 1 cultivation farm and one irrigation pump.
- Note: You will need the pump for the hunter Tasks. Try to keep 2 worker per Farm and/or Orchid. You can slow the task by not placing the gather plants flag until the last quarter to allow the build up of plastic.
- Note: Until your pump is built, switch recyclers to 1x cloth, 1xmetal and 2x plastic Note: This is a juggling act between whatever is required from now on.
- Place Graveyard. (1 worker)
- Note: Try to start this by Season 16.
- Place School. (1 worker)
- Save Game!
- Season 18
Phase 5 – Research, Expeditions, Medical, more Food and Water
- Note: At season 24 your droughts will now spawn sandstorms.. Wait for the water to disappear then PAUSE and change all your Water Carriers except 1 to builders. Same with your Fisher Huts/Gatherers/Herbalists. .. UNPAUSE.. When the water comes back.. reverse what you just did.
- Upgrade 1 Cistern to Water Tower and turn on charcoal filtration.
- Note: This will trigger the first Research Point Task – Knowledge is power – and work on getting 15 workers.
- Place 2 Farms/Orchids. (Place one irrigation pump between them.)
- Place 2 Cabins. (12 total)
- Place Pub and set to hard liquor. (1 worker)

- Place 1 Warehouse. (4 total)
- Place Hunter.
- Place Campfire.
- Place 1 Recycler. (1 worker)
- Note: 2 x cloth, 1x metal, 1x plastic, 1x electronics..or according to need.
- Place Research Station. (2-5 workers)
- Note: I wont tell you what to research. My suggestion for your first 3 research projects are the Wind Turbine to speed up your recyclers.. then the Weather Station and then Sturdy Houses. You should have your first research point from completing tasks.
- Place Expedition Station. ( 2-5 scouts)
- Note: Scout ruins when not in a drought. Send Expeditions during droughts when you should have extra peeps.
- Place 1 Rain Collector.
- Note: Place these with in your cistern/Water tower radius.
- Place Shelter. (2 total)
- Place Medical Centre. (2 workers)
- Place Forester. (2 workers)
- Place 2 Cabin. (14 total)
- Place Herbal Hut. (2 total)
- Save Game!
- Season 35
Phase 6 – Consolidating and getting ready for Expansion.

- Place 2 cultivation farms/Orchids and one irrigation pump.
- Place 1 Warehouse. (5 total)
- Place Charcoal Kiln. (2 total)
- Place 1 Market.
- Place Wind Turbine near your recyclers. (If researched)
- Save Game!
- Season 42
- Note: You should now have the beginnings of a great settlement. You can choose to rinse and repeat as part of your expansion strat or go your own way. There is really no right or wrong way. Simply apply what you’ve learned and save often!
- Note: Remember, Infrastucture first then Population to fill the jobs.
Tips
Some tips on how I tend to deal with certain events.
This is where most peeps fall over from early made Youtube videos (myself included)
- Do not go crazy with houses.. use shelters to house your homeless after the first 6 houses.
- Only build 1 – 2 houses once you have approx 3000 water/food in reserve.
- Build your Infrastructure first.. let me say that again.. BUILD YOUR INFRASTRUCTURE FIRST then add houses to fill jobs before expanding.
Interesting tid bit.. 14 houses as you will see from this walkthrough will build up to 70ish population over the 40 seasons. You can imagine how death spirals occur by going hard on housing without the infrastucture.
What seems a good idea now will come back and bite you on the hiney in 25 seasons. (avg lifespan of your settlers) Don’t be impatient.
My EX Wife’s favourite saying.. “All good things come to those that wait!!” Take from that what you will. 😉
(Quests)
- Don’t panic if you don’t complete them, your colony comes first.
- Try to complete them if possible, they provide free Resourses, Research Points and Seeds.
(Worker Tasks)
- These are Gather All, Plants, Wood, Scrap and Remove Radiation and are great when you need a little boost.
- All settlers without a profession will work on these as their priority.
- All those assigned a profession will resort to these once their profession has reached set limits or are unable to continue their profession due to lack or resources.
- Most peeps hate droughts due to the damage it does to your colony.. I look at it the other way. Its a great way to conduct repairs, complete building projects and conduct expeditions.
- PAUSE as soon as the water disappears in the lakes.
- Move all except 1 Water Carrier per Rain Collector to settlers.
- Move all Fishing to Settlers. (then to hunting lodges – must keep some food coming in as priority!)
- Leave other professions such as Gathering/Herbalists as the growth times of plants do not coincide with the drought completely.
- Then move all but 7 settlers to builders.
- Then conduct your Expedition on something you have scouted previously.
- Send remaining Scouts to scout other locations. Scouting can be done at anytime during the game.
- Then UNPAUSE and use the Repair Next button on any buildings you want repaired.. I tend to focus on water/power as my priorities then let the game manage the repairs from that point on.
- Then when the water returns at the end of the drought, PAUSE and return your builders to settlers leaving at least 2.
- Return your settlers to Water Carrying/Fishing. Keep 2+ as settlers then UNPAUSE.
- Continue building your colony.
Expeditions are nice little side missions that can get you free Resources and Seeds.
I try to send 3 settlers, 12 rations to Greenhouse, Storage Depots, Fast Food Restaurants, Gas Stations and House Ruins but even more to the bigger Ruins.
- Note: Remember to check the requirements of what you need to take or you wont be able to complete the task in one trip.
Conduct these primarily during droughts as using settlers at this time will not eat into your professions. (See droughts for more details)
VERY IMPORTANT NOTE:Check the Radiation on the ground by clicking the nuclear button on the bottom bar. RED just like a traffic light, means stop! Do not send expeditions or scouts if the ground is red (highest radiation). Radiation Suits are required.. but this is more for mid to end game. We are making masks only at this time.. green and yellow only are the go!
This was introduced with the Technology Update and can be very time consuming but necessary to advance. We can expect more research in coming updates.
- Once the Research station is researched.. I highly recommend researching the Wind Turbine first then the Weather Station then as you see fit.
- The WT will increase your recyclers and water towers effectiveness considerably. This is a huge help in early games hence why i included it in this walkthrough.
- Radiation should not be an issue yet providing you make masks exclusively.
- Everyone has their own take on whats best here. Forget efficiency and go with what suits you best here.
- My personal preference is for the (15×14 – irrigation pump – 15×14) twin fields/orchids with the pump situated in the middle on the 14 tile side.
- Early on I like to set up 4 sets of these with the following.. 1x <420 for constant food, 2x 600-900 to add a steady flow of food and 1 x 1000> for a long but big influx of food.
- I work on a supply of 500 food per season per 25 adults. (I work on an average of 3 seasons because of my preference so in this case my food would need to bring in 1500 food to cover that 500 food per season and yes children are factored in.. 5 units of food per child.. 4 children = 1 adult)
- This is something i’m still working on.. but seems they carry 25 units of water 4 times to the WT each per shift.
- For this tutorial, 3 WT’s seem to work well.
- The WT seems to be the main point for collection regardless of the distance.
- Wells are best for remote areas and should be placed with a WT and Rain Collectors close by to avoid long distances. On their own, 1 well will maintain 5 adults.
- Rain Collectors: These are so important and when full add 1000 water each to your reserves. Best of all, they take no additional manpower! I’ve found a decent ratio from season 40 onwards is around 2 RC to every Water Tower. (around lakes) Up to 5 RC’s + 4 wells (box formation) to every Water Tower for remote areas. (without lakes)
- This is still a work in progress.
